I did this a few years back and tried out one of their S10 for the day. I never forgot that and was amazed at how good the S10 was off road and eventually this led to my purchasing my Gen 2 S10 in 2015.
If you use your own bike it costs £100 for the day including instruction and lunch. Instruction will be from one or both Jones' including the legendary Geraint Jones an iconic British Enduro champion from the 80's and 90's.
There is a feature in the September issue of Motorcycle Sport & Leisure and photos of a couple of pages are below.
I'm planning on doing the two day course next year prior to the Taffy Dakar early April to gain some more knowledge. Any Uk/Euro based or visiting AmCans wanting to have a go and join in let me know.

I've fancied doing it for a while now and living in Wales I've got no excuse! I was considering using my own bike but I'd need to add TKC80's that I might not leave on, the cost of adding the tyres it might make sense to use their bike. That said I marshal at the Taffy so might have use of them!

Yoyo. Yes give it a go.
As you know I had great fun on the TD.
Perhaps we can make a group up under S10 forum? If anyone else is interested let's start a list? It'll be good for anyone thinking of taking their own S10 off road and you can decide to use your own or rent one of theirs on the experience.

I'll check some dates out for say early April for the "training" with Tenere experience and perhaps YOYO could check on date for TAFFY Dakar which I guess is May Day bank holiday weekend?
We can pick some dates from those they have available and then we can choose best date for those who have expressed an interest so we can make up a group.
I'll check it out over next few days and let you know. Thanks

I'll pick up with Jase and Christian to get the dates for the Taffy now. It's normally the first Bank Holiday in May which would make it 5th/6th/7th but I'll confirm it.

I called Tenere Experience today and left message on their voice mail to call me back. As soon as they do I'll let you know dates they have next year.

I got a call back yesterday and it's not good news!
They had a big fire back in June and it destroyed all of the bikes!
See here.
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=74&t=1680364
At present they intend to still operate but as they are approaching the close season and awaiting what bikes Yamaha will provide which they have said they will for next year.
They said they may have the new "T7" twin 700 which will replace the XT660z Tenere and hope to get some S10's but it's upto Yamaha.
So I have very provisionally booked weekend of 14/15 April which is 3 weeks before the Taffy Dakar and they will let me know in the new year and update me on the situation.
It's a real shame.
So we can revisit this early in 2018.
Thanks.

That really sucks, let hope they stick it out with Yamaha, we are lucky in South Wales to have BMW Off Road School and a Honda one, I know Triumph had been looking to open something also. Fingers crossed!

The Triumph one's in Gloucester (Trailquest ).. I've been on that one bloody excellent it is too... Run by ex Forces guys... I did the three day course, Richard the owner is excellent..

I wish I could go on this one with you guys but the risk is too great... I'm bound to pop a rivet!! :))

But just reading Strideys pst 2018 may be a possibility if I can get a bit stronger :)

For those still interested the Yamaha Tenere Experience is now good to go with replacement XT660Z (ex Yamaha UK bikes) and new S10's after the devastating fire that happened last summer destroying all of their bikes!

I am booked in on the Friday 27th April for the one day Tenere experience with an option for day 2 which is less training and more riding but see their site for more details.

To get you interested and get the juices flowing for some off road adventure training have a look at this Vimeo based promotional video link here https://vimeo.com/17195521

Costs to ride your own bike is £100 for one day or £180 for the two days experience. Costs to ride one of their new S10's is one day £250.00 or 2 day £450.00.

There was quite a few interested forum members for this last year and it would be great to meet up and see how the S10 whether yours or hired handles the off road stuff.

Yamaha Tenere Experience website is http://www.yamaha-tenere-experience.co.uk/index.html

If you are interested please book up direct phone is best and speak to Dylan Jones or Mrs Jones.

Post up on here if you are interested and potentially booking up.

I hope to meet some of you then.

Hi Mate

ive been wanting to do this for some time. But not got around to it.

Its only a sort hop on the ferry from Dublin, then 2.5hr ride from Holyhead. But ideally, id like to get a buddy to head over with me.

if i do get around to booking, i will let you know.

Great! What’s your mate ride?
It doesn’t have to a Yamaha along as it a trail or dual purpose and road legal!
Hope you can make it.

Ps. Many Irish people do the Taffy Dakar which is the sister to the Paddy Dakar. This is the following weekend. You could stay a week if you can and choose same date as me for the Tenere Experience 27th April
See the other thread in regions Uk/European section.
