I am sure some of you know how this goes....but here it is.
Very simple...

One person will make a request for a photo of your bike next to the object. The other members of the forum must ride and get a photo of their bike next to the object and post it. the first person to post the photo gets to pick the next photo challenge. The old photo and the new challenge MUST be in picture form, except this first one to get the ball rolling. The first person to get a photo of their bike and a fire engine must take a picture of their bike with something else and post that as the next challenge. Make sense?

The first challenge is your bike next to a fire engine!

GO!

If you have questions go for it.

Done.

Next Tag challenge, take a picture of your bike with a statue of an Elk. No DEER, no live elk or stuffed elk.

No one got Miss Liberty yet? C'mon folks, this is a great excuse to go for a ride. Guess I'll just have to go snag this one and post something easy so others will get on board. ;D

I've been a regular player of a number of Tag games on ADV for years and love them. Generally, I'm in the Ride-More-Worry-Less camp but having seen some games get screwed up, there are some basics that ought to be set forth here in the beginning for both clarification and sportsmanship.

A really important one is that the way the first intro post by Boostedxt was worded, the photo would have to be of the same singular object, not of a similar theme elsewhere. That is quite limiting to a world-wide group. EricV had the second post and contradicted this by saying "a statue of an Elk" which implies a similar item anywhere. In ADV the similar item concept is called "Wild Card Tag" and I think EricV did us all a favor. Boostedxt set up the game so he ought to have final say, but for a world-group I think it's important to agree up front that we are playing with the "Wild Card" concept. Be warned that wild card tags can go REALLY fast.
Which brings up getting "Bruced" by having the shot and somebody else putting the photo on the web-site first. The first to post the photo counts in all the games I know of, and for good reason. It's really aggravating to take a 6 hour ride, post from your cellphone that you have the shot and will put it up in the evening, then get home and find a photo already posted. Been there done that - it's life! The photo is what counts because the alternative is that the game gets held hostage repeatedly with excuses like "I had to go to work" or "Will post a new one when I get back from the weekend" or "I'm waiting for the snow to melt to get a new tag" etc. Nearly every McDonald's restaurant in the world has wifi, so no need for the excuses.
Tag games usually have a cardinal rule that NO file photos are allowed. The underlying idea of the whole thing is to share a ride, so the photos can't have already been taken. An easy way to assure this happens is for the person making the new tag to put something somewhere in the photo and point out what/where it is. Not all of us live where helmets are required, so for example place a pair of gloves or a stone on the seat/tank/rim/etc.
A sportsman item that should seem like common sense which not everyone gets is that if there are access restrictions, point them out and use some common sense when placing tags. I live near DC and we've had a couple of problems with things only open certain hours. One Virginia rider got picked up by security for taking a photo of a military spot. (He was released after a very uncomfortable and pointed one-sided talk about felonies, posted prohibited signs, losing his bike as evidence till a hearing, etc.) We've had a couple posted in some really dangerous areas of Baltimore (aka Bulletmore) and one guy came too close to getting hurt. Along these thoughts, please remember that most of us don't live anywhere near a farm that raises Tibetan Yaks or where we can find Hero Statues for a specific baseball or Buzkashi team. (Google it)
;)

Finally, tag games run cleanest when there is one person as a moderator, currently Boostedxt here. Otherwise, you get the Game-Rule-Nazis constantly arguing with the It's-In-The-Spirit crowd. The mod can keep the game fun, moving, and is the power to call Bullsh!t on whiners.
Game on!

Nice post Checkswrecks. I do agree with the Wildcard version for here, as it's far too limiting to do specific items and the forum is still a lot smaller than ADV. IMHO, the item should be one that anyone could potentially get, not a regionally specific item. For example, an In&Out Burger restaurant sign, when they only exist in a small part of the US.

The fun is most certainly in the rides! If I get beat to posting a pic, it's all good, I went for a ride. ::014::

I would suggest that a certain amount of leeway be allowed for outside the box thinking being applied to the verbiage of the game and Tag being hunted though. In part because it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere and in part for sheer FUN. For example, I don't have any lady libertys anywhere for a few hundred miles or more, but know of a tax service place that has people dress up and stand out at the street as a lady liberty to call attention to their business. I'd call that one fair game, (and may try that shot if no one gets the tag). Naturally, Boostedxt gets to have the final say, if he wants to be the Mod for this game he started.

Thanks for the posts everyone. I agree and think that the wild card version is best. That was the version I was actually going for. As for the leeway I am open for anything that is close and or resembles it. Human dress as state? Works for me!

I just want this game to move along. I know the weather is bad in a lot of places right now, but that will change soon!

So the next tag is a gravel road?

That should be doable. ::012::

I'm kinda surprised I was the first to get this one today. Guess it pays to have to be home early for once.

I need a ruling from the Rules Committee. I understand finding the tag must be a fresh photo. Can the next target tag come from a file photo or does that need to come from a current ride? (I'm asking because there was nothing worth tagging on my ride today).

Nice looking country road, Dirt Dad!

I have played the picture game games on a few sites and enjoy it. I like the global perspective so just about everyone can play. I am hoping to get a picture of my ST with two super-models but am still working on the details.

I have no problem with a file photo being used if it is fairly recent, say at least within the past 12 months. Sometimes you find something really cool to capture with your ST in the shot. The metadata of a picture can be edited anyway, so unscrupulous people (gasp!) could make an older picture possibly appear to be current, seasonal and other dates clues not withstanding. Being able to use a recent file photo might help with the quality and uniqueness of the tag. JMHO.
