I'll put up a Tag in the AM, if nobody minds. Long day already with all the wildfires...

As promised, I got a TAG pic or 2 on the way in this AM...

Let's go with a statue honoring a military hero. This is Major Pappy Boyington, USMC. He was born in CdA, just south of this Airport.

I'll bet you remember the TV show "Baa Baa Black Sheep" in the 70's ...

They used to park on the ramp next to us at the north end of Van Nuys. Will have to find some pix of them.

F4U Corsair.......IMHO the gull wings made it one of the prettiest War Birds ever to fly.

I was a fan of the show too. Not sure how much it had to do with reality but what the heck

That P&W Double Wasp under the cowl was pretty sweet too.

Always had cookie-loos when working on the airplane.

There was an AT-6 parked next to us for a while and a beautiful young lady came to the fence, calling for Skip and I. We went over and she gushed about the T-6 being her boy friends plane and then asked if we'd seen him? Skip was the ladies man and said no. About then, she pointed to the P-51 and said:

"Oh Your airplane is pretty too." (It's the Miss America P-51 National Air Racer and was a class leader back then.)

I'll never forget how Skip nonchalantly said:

"Thank you. That [pointing at the T-6] was a trainer for pilots to learn how to fly fighters like that." [pointing at the P-51]

We turned around and went back to what we were doing.

Grab. Random gravel road in Southeast Iowa. Interesting because it is built out of Cinder blocks.

The residents were curious why I stopped.

New tag- choice of:
19th Century building, a veteran's memorial, or a canon. Bonus for 2 out of 3.

Well, not really.
I'm in Southern Ontario Canada and we both Amish and Mennonite communities nearby....just keep the revs down and give the horse and buggy lotsa room.

According to the rules of the game, you need to catch a portion of your bike in the photo. (In my one photo it was just the top of the windshield). Since the object of the game is to motivate people to get out and ride, and you may not have played before, if you can attest you rode we can probably cut you some slack this time...

Good catch!
Doesn't bother me if he chimes in like holligl said and we give it to him, but to note for future tags BadNews didn't technically get the grab or new tag.
