The timing chain (CCT) is automatic on both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Super Tenere.

Only the Gen 2 (2014 onwards) has cruise control and electronic suspension therefore yours will also have the updated part.

CCTs have had some reported issues, but usually on high mileage bikes.

Something's not right. The 2013 model year was Gen1 and had no cruise or ES, so what Antanas wrote has a problem. Regardless, while all Tenere have an automatic cam chain tensioner (CCT), the Gen1 bikes had an earlier model which should be replaced, especially by the 50,000-ish mile valve check.

The ZE is listed as the United Kingdom Gen2 and those began in 2014, similar to the US ES bikes. So my guess is that Antanas typo'd the year incorrectly which is easy to do. Again, they all have an automatic cam chain tensioner. The CCT in the earliest Gen2s were later superseded by another improved version.

I'm not sure what serial number the switch was at but even on Gen2 bikes, listen at start-up to see if the rattle doesn't quiet down after several seconds.

My mistake guys 2014 August, it rattle like AK47 then driving at 2500 rpm and no load on the engine.

These are noisy engines even with a perfect CCT. Since 2014 Yamaha has updated the part number again for the CCT at least once and I think twice. The newest part numbers supercede all the earlier ones including 1st gen. I replaced mine at the 55K mile valve check/adjustment since I was doing the work myself I was still way ahead on the cost, even considering the cost of a new CCT. This way I avoided the hassle of resetting/retracting it since the new ones come already retracted and ready to install.

Early CCTs have clear 23P stamped on the front of the unit. The updated versions have 2BS.

Both are visible with a torch and just peering between the frame rail and front side panel. No need to remove any parts!
