Hey All, just checking if there's a rear wheel available out there. I'd like to have a spare wheel for when I'm getting tires replaced. And it doesn't need to have a tire, I've got a spare. Looonngg wait times with the dealer! Thanks

Based on the price of an S10 wheel, I'd change my own tires even if it was 10x harder than it is. And actually, it's not difficult at all. I change mine with just tire spoons and a little 12 volt compressor, and that includes stiff tires like the EO7. Based on how many tires I go through, changing them myself became a necessary skill.

Thanks for the link Chris, boy even damaged those are at a premium. I've have considered doing it myself but this one my Road Hazard is replacing for free
Yea' those damn wheels are at a premium for sure. I still have yet to find a front wheel. The few that are being parted out with good front wheels are snatched up within hours of being posted.

I had never changed a motorcycle tire myself until a year ago when I decided to give it a try. My mechanical skills are about average. I followed the wheel removal techniques described on this forum. Then I used this video from Motorcyclist Magazine:
I bought a Parnes wheel balancer ($150).
My first rear tire change took me 10 hours! Now it takes me about 2-3. Same for the front.
Now I change my friend's tires as well.
Changing my own tires saves a bunch of time and money. Good luck!

That's the same video I used to get started several years ago. I watched that, bought some spoons and rim protectors, and never looked back.

I don't think that spending between $110.00 and @130.00 at the dealership for mounting /balancing two tires every 6 to 9k is a bunch of money. Most definitely won't break the bank.
What is the next step toward saving money? Manufacturing your own tires? It is absurd.

LOL, here we are on an Adventure Bike forum where lots of guys ride their bikes all over the world and pride themselves on their self sufficiency, and a basic task that most motorcyclists would have at one time regarded as a DIY job on par with changing your own oil gets mocked as "absurd".

I change my own tires. I don't care if others do or don't. I don't mock another guy because of how he spends his money/time, or whether he does his own maintenance because, you know, that would be....absurd.

I don't know but it sounds to me like you're implying that I can't hold my own in the face of adversity. Not everybody that chooses to have work done by somebody else is mechanically retarded. People get satisfaction out of the most asinine things, like thinking they can make an already highly engineered motorcycle even better by adding a stainless steel bolt in place of a rubber grommet. It is just an example but you get my drift. Having a motorcycle towed never destroyed my ego. Nobody is completely self sufficient. We all pick our fights based on things we think we know better than others. And I am not mocking anybody...

As tight as I am , changing my own tires is the only option. One thing that makes it easier for me is using tire soap , grease , mounting compound or whatever it's called .
