I currently have Kappa40 Side-cases and I hate them. I don't like the shape and I really dislike the fact that they open to the side. Well my problems have been solved. I just scored these 2 cans. They are not 20mm cans, they are 1 inch larger and they load from the top. They weigh like 22 pounds each with most of that being the lid. I currently have mono-key racks and am looking for ideas on how to mount these bad boys. I thought there was a company that made custom mounting solutions but I might be wrong any ideas for a very lucky guy?
These are the metal cases that hold ejection seat rocket motors. WOOT.
What do you guys think? Should I use them or not?

Look like nice cans. I have happy trails racks, and they would be pretty easy to mount.

Those are ammo cans. Can be bought at army/navy surplus stores for $40USD or less. Many ways to attach them to your racks. The Happy Trail is the easiest and best in my opinion.

What are your thoughts on either the caribou cases DIY kit, Happy Trails or the Touratech for mounting these? I have looked at the Touratech and the Happy Trails kits and cant really decide which of the 3 to get. These are heavy cases and once they go on I am not taking them off (unless I drop it loaded..HAHA).
I want to buy the right kit as once the holes are drilled there is no going back and I don't want to ruin them.

My problem is that I have no idea what racks I have. They are round and the top latch thing says monokey. There is no other markings at all. The tube itself is not big maybe 1/2" definitely not 3/4'. I have looked at alot of websites and cant find any info. The current sidecases are Kappa 40's.

Such a dilemma.

It looks to me like you have givi racks. Givi uses the monokey system.

Your racks are Givi or Kappa. Givi and Kappa are the same thing just sold under 2 different names.

You are not going to ruin your cases by having to drill holes a few times if you don't get it right the first time. I have lots of extra holes in my cases. I have changed my mounting system 3 times and never worried about the extra holes. Easy to seal any holes you may end up with.

Well I pulled the trigger on the Happy Trail mounting kit. After searching it looks like I have Kappa racks that go with the Kappa 40 side cases.
Now I have to decide on whether to sell the Kappas or not. Time will tell.

They are great ammo boxes, but seem a tad heavy for panniers to me. Manageable if you don't carry a pillion I guess.

I think I would keep the Kappas until the new system is proven.
