I had my 13 do this to me out of the blue one day, would spin over but no attempt at starting. IIRC the check engine light would blink and when checked the codes it was saying something along the lines of ecu not seeing power from key switch. Discovered i could turn the key off and back on a few times and magically it would start. dis assembled, cleaned and re-greased my side stand switch it was gross inside there.
The problem persisted grabbed my can of silicone spray and blasted the key switch, i know i know bad idea but i have not had a issue since. The amount of black funk and crud that came out of the key switch blew my mind.

Don't start and shut off your bike over very short intervals. My gut feeling on many of these hard starts is a cylinder washdown with too much fuel. Short run cycles, and definitely key on/engine off won't get things oiled back up properly and you loose compression for subsequent starts. Even a normal run and shutdown could result in a washdown if you get an extra fuel pulse or a fuel rail leak down. Not much you can do about that one. Some talk of using the kill switch. Dunno.
