I know I’m starting another oil filter debate but has anyone used WIX filters on their S10? I have always used OEM or HiFlo but was looking at other options. Why I’m doing it I’m not sure as I’ve never had a problem with either brand. Looked at Mahle because they get great reviews and somehow that got me looking at WIX. WIX has a great reputation so thinking I might give them a try.

I used to sell industrial Wix filters many years ago. They were the best on the market at that time. On my 4 wheel vehicles I only use Wix filters. On my S10 I use the OEM filters because of clearance issues with the skid plate (Gen 1 with Altrider). I have not researched the true dimensions of the Wix filter for the S10 yet. If they have one the same size (length) as the OEM then I would convert over in a heartbeat.

Go look at a Wix filter that is listed as the one for the Super Ten or a cross over from a known fitment. The basic issue is that a lot of automotive oil filters changed a few years back from concave area at the threads to convex area at the threads. Convex filters will bottom out at the nut on the Super Ten before the gasket seals against the mating area, and leak.

There is a thread you can read thru that may have someone's experience with the Wix. I haven't read it all in a long time. There are still some good pictures showing what I'm talking about.

According to WIX application chart on their website they list a different filter for the S10 than the FJR. HiFlo lists the same filter for both, the HF 204 which is the shorter filter. If the WIX FJR filter is the same as the 204 then I’m good with using it on both bikes.

Wix filters are top quality and I use them all the time in many different applications. The Wix 51358 is no exception to the Wix quality and is a well made filter but the filter element itself is very small compared to the OEM and most other filters.

I much prefer the OEM, Mahle OC-575 or Baldwin B-1400 filters.

Using the HiFlo Filtro 204. It clears the GIVI skid plate I have. I've used HiFlo on my GS Suzukis for years with no issues, however they're cartridge filters.

OEM Denso for me. It's readily available, cheap, and the seal is pre lubed. There is no reason for me to use anything else unless it's an emergency oil change.

I use Wix, along with Mobil, because they're both readily available at auto parts stores. I've also used Mahle filters, but I have to order those on line.
