With snow putting an end to my riding for a while, I wanted to go through the 12 Blue and fix everything that might need looked at before a trip to Tuk.
With 185,300 + miles on it ,It is still up to any big trip I would want to try.
I pulled off the top cover and adjusted the valves, It has been about 75,000 miles since I've had the cover off.
All 4 exhaust valves were on the tight side of the spec. and one intake was on the tight edge of the spec.
I put on the new recall harness while I was there.
New plugs, and an air filter. I had to order a cover gasket, It just wasn't that great anymore.
I ordered new clutch plates and throttle cables.
I took apart the starter motor to see what it looked like.

Everything looks like new in there.

I don't see any carbon build up , I have never ever added any thing to the fuel.

Starter looked fine but there doesn't appear to be any were limit line on the brushes.

Now I just need to hook up with some North bound riders.

You need to pay attention to what it says and make sure you are replacing the correct wires but it's not bad.
For me the valve adjustment is very time consuming , but I'm old and slow.
If you have read the harness replacement recall it says to replace some wires in three different steps with diagnostic testing each time.
That is to make sure each wire is replaced correctly, It is very time consuming to do it as they say, if it is done right it really only needs diagnostic tested after all the wires are installed. You sure would not want to cut off the six wire ends at the ECU unless you are sure that you tested and have pulled out the correct ones.
