Went riding in freezing weather the other day and had to keep the visor on the helmet cracked open to keep it from fogging up. Do the pin lock or dual pane visors really work to reduce/eliminate fogging? What works better pin lock or dual pane visor? What about breath boxes and the electric headed visors?

Thanks for the advice.

A properly installed PInlock works well.
The Pinlock does indeed work well. Keep it and the visor outside surface clean and all will be well.
I can see fog on the area inside the visor outside that covered by the Pinlock insert.
If you do any riding that progresses into the darkness of nighttime you may want to use only the clear insert.
Imagine sunglasses at night.

Dual pane work very well but not available for many helmets. I found one for my street HJC modular and an added benefit it is warmer (little bit only) also. You'll find most mfgrs list them as snowmobile shields.

Thanks all, I think i'm going to get the Scorpion EXO AT-950 helmet with the dual pane visor. There is an electric heated visor available for it as well but from what I can tell that one is more to keep ice from building up on the visor when snowmobiling.

On a similar subject... Eyeglasses

On recent rides I spent way too much time messing with my visor (Arai Signet-X) to clear my eyeglasses. Originally the lens were coated to reduce fogging. Previous helmet is a Arai Signet-Q and I don't remember getting this much fogging. When stopped for gasoline, with the Signet-X helmet, I can barely read the gas pump because my eyeglasses fogging. Any experiences or ideas? Appreciated.

Me, too. This part sucks. I know my shield isn't fogging (Pinlock on Shoei GT-Air), but my glasses will every time I breathe.

I wear a Shoei GT-Air with a Pinlock and I don't have trouble with fogging on the clear shield (the drop down tinted one will some times).

the chin curtain that came with it helps keep me warm. if it gets really cold, I'll wear a thin balaclava and then my face will feel fine.

My glasses are coated and I rarely have any fogging issues with them. I use a Pinlock insert and it works. I still will open the visor at stops, at least a crack if it's raining, more if not. I know several people that swear by cat crap for anti fog on glasses. Cat Crap

So I got the Scorpion EXO AT-950 with the dual pane screen and it worked flawlessly. Went for a 5 hour ride yesterday in temps down to 27*F and no fogging at all. Even when standing at lights. Also I highly recommend the FirstGear heated stuff, was nice and warm all day and never turned it past 50% power.

Pinlock on my Shoei GT-Air works great, but it has a saturation point. Typically early cold mornings on the east coast it can be overwhelmed and needs to be cracked to keep it clear. However I will say this is a rare occasion and I've never seen any anti fog coating product perform better in the same situation.
