Had family visiting for the holiday weekend. So off to visit a local scenic spot at Cape Clear Cape Breton. My daughter took her pickup and I meet them there. This was the first time I took the S10 on the back woods logging roads since we recently moved to the areaimage0(1).jpeg20210905_145030.jpg20210905_145033.jpg20210905_144908.jpg20210905_144612.jpg20210905_144608.jpg20210905_151200.jpg20210905_144924.jpg.
We have had lots of recent rain so the last couple hundred meters of dirt track logging road was in poor condition. I started into the water but (not so quickly or easily) turned around and walked the last 100 meters. There were other side by side riders out today too. They had no problem in the water.

Quite a bike parking in Molde. Nerd fact: the ferries are electric powered. Silence!

As always, time for an adult beverage. Cheers to a great trip!

Two Weeks riding in Northern Ontario. Ride until we find a suitable spot to hide and camp, sleep then do it all again the next day. We found ourselves in some pretty extraordinary locations..
Ghost Towns, Abandoned Lots, a road that goes through someones backyard between his house and barn in the middle of absolutely nowhere, roads that lead directly to a lake, roads that are only passable in winter apparently, almost 1000kms of railway trails that we camped on every night only popping out to find gas stations, spent a night in someone's AirBNB for free, after he stopped to give us directions and wanted to spend some time talking to us about our bikes and it was getting late :)

My son and I decided we'd not choose a destination, just see what kind of stuff we could get into (legally), and not die (joking of course).. we put the adventure into adventure bike and i couldn't be happier. my son did this whole ride on a CRF250L .. iron-butt indeed20210901_141231[1].jpg20210901_143205[1].jpg20210902_135855[1].jpg20210902_145146[1].jpg20210903_115358[1].jpg20210903_120054[1].jpg20210904_134420[1].jpg20210904_144135[1].jpg20210904_144209[1].jpg20210904_180548[1].jpg

I took my bike to work today.
I work as a paramedic substitute covering the eastern part of the country.

As I parked the bike in the garage another T12 entered. My buddy for the next 24 hours seems to have a good taste in bikes.

My 2015 with 150.000 km on the clock and my colleagues 2021 with 5.000.

Good for you and your son, DamonS! Such a beautiful area. Were blackflies a matter?
not really, but we do have plenty of stock in repellent including a thermacell and various sprays. first week had more things flying around our head, second week the temperature dropped quite a bit, so pretty much not a thing to be seen except the little nit swarms where the sunlight poked through. Definitely the best time to be up there, if you don't mind gambling with the weather. We live in the north, so are used to most of the seasonal plagues, so always come prepared..

oh, also, if anyone stumbles upon an SW-Motech topbox on the heritage snowmobile trail, let me know.. :(

Nice they weren't as issue for you. covid has kept us from enjoying Algonquin for the past 2 years. If you don't mind another question, how has the Thermacell worked out for you?

Algonquin patiently waits your return ;) I love the thermacell. I hunt a lot in all seasons, and thermacell has been fantastic. I don't have to spray myself down with questionable chemical concoctions (plus i have a contact allergy to the propellant in most spray on stuff), the little unit hooks to my belt and really does keep a zone of freedom around you unless you are in wind, where the bugs just don't seem to be flying around too much anyhow. My son prefers the spray on stuff, and says it works just as well for him, the rub on bug spray's are getting hard to find.

If you are looking for a WAY WAY better solution to bugs, combine a thermacell with some Sawyers Permethrin insect repellant (not available in Canada, but available in the US nearly everywhere, so i'll pay someone to send me over a bottle ;) ) ... spray your clothes with the Sawyers, it lasts for about 3 months in the woods, couple that with a thermacell and I haven't been bit by a bug in years

Thanks for that! Canoe L to Opeongo via Otter Slide was the favored route there. Great and well-appreciated comments on the Thermacell. Your input nudged me off the fence and I'll be ordering one for spring. In particular, your concurrent use of Sawyer's sounds like a real knockout blow. Familiar with the product and won't spend significant time in the bush w/o it. I'm aware of someone who'd be pleased to assist in your getting some.

Yesterday I went for a ride around the “IJsselmeer”. Started in Friesland around Leeuwarden where I live and went over the Afsluitdijk into Noord-Holland. All the way alongside the water passing Amsterdam into Utrecht and from there North again on the otowards home.
