Well, yeah, there's plenty of rubber on the sides. I would not want to ride that tire on a west Texas farm road. . . . in the rain.
FYFI I remember riding on FR281 East of Dalhart a couple years ago on my Hippo. With all the mud tracked on the pavement from the farm equipment it was rather exciting in the rain to say the least.

That RD500 (UK name) would be worth a tidy sum over here.
Dude payed NZ$15K for it and NZ$25K or an RG500 last year.

One of the other guys there also has an RG 400 (had since 87 and done over 120,000kms two sets of rings) and a 500 , he's rebuilding a RZV500 so was all over that one there.

Its lovely to look at a photo of a Yellow Tenere and not be drawn straight to it ! . That 500 is stunning. Really nice to see someone actually riding around on one aswell. I went to the Classic Bike Racing at Donnington Park a few years back and the RD 500 owners club were there so got a treat looking at them. I can still hear the 6 cylinder Hondas ringing in my head. Nothing else like it. Nice location too.

Met a guy that took a '70 something Kawi two stroke, and bolted it into a late '80s Ninja 600 frame. I assumed that it had taken tons of fab work. Nope, complete bolt up. Even the complete fairing fit. The only give away was the two stroke pipes. It was surreal to see modern, and hear the old on the pipe.

That is funny you said this.
I just got home from a ride in a frog drowning rain. Didn't have any problems with the tire at all. At times it looked like my front tire was parting the Red Sea.
