Did a 5hr ride from sunny coast to crows nest via Somerset dam yesterday.
Explored a different back road up the range, Esk Crows Nest Rd. Good trip, gravel section just needs abit of work after all the rain.

Hey Hendrix. Love that whole area even though I haven't ridden it for many years. Definitely had road bikes back then not a SuperTen. Have just moved to Beaudesert so will no doubt get out there again.
Shoot me a DM if you want to exchange contact details for future rides.

Yesterday rode with a 690, today a Goldwing trike. Different strokes for different folks. Mt Lemmon weather looked sketchy, so rode Rt 288 up to the end of the pavement. Still caught a little rain. Did give us a brilliant rainbow.

4 Peaks over to Tonto Basin. Rode with a guy off the other forum on a 690. Chatted up Canadian Ron on a T7 before heading to a late lunch.
The guy I rode with had a gopro. Nice video.
For those of you snowed in with time on your hands, come ride with us! (You might want to mute the sound.)

Bit of a trek into south wales today. For now my S10 is still laid up. 6k service booked for next friday, but it‘ll be end of March before I start riding as I’m out of mileage allowance on the insurance. So I’m using my FJR instead. We ended up somewhere around Abergavenny I believe, at least thats what most of the road signs seemed to say. 350 mile round trip From Milton Keynes and back. 71123F0D-97CE-46D8-8661-C09CE7C346E8.jpeg

"Mileage allowance", now that's interesting. Is that what it really is or a play on word's?
It wouldn't go over well here in Canada this mileage allowance, if it is what it is.

It is something that is known in the Netherlands too. For example with oldtimer cars/bikes. Insurance company’s are all about risk-analysis. Less miles=less chance of accident = cheaper per month.

Interesting but it sounds expensive.
Here in my province but suspect similar in all other Canadian provinces you pay a premium according to your driving record, NO mileage restrictions. You essentially start off as a new driver paying 100% of the premium and as the years go by you can accumulate a discount up too 40% generally. You can buy for 3month minimum but one year (12months)is the standard.
You can drive 100kms per month or 100,000kms per month, no one cares.
I guess if your not driving or racking up mileage its a good way but Canada is big and it is not uncommon for folks here to rack big mileage quickly and that could get expensive I think.

Yes we have to ‘estimate’ how many miles we’ll do in the year. Not sure how much trouble you get into if you go over, some would say your not covered but I’d guess its more likely a reduced payout. When I added the S10 to my existing policy I estimated 7000, I’ve done 6400 already hence needing the service. Once thats done there’s little point re taxing her for another 600 miles so she’s laid up until insurance renewal in March. Got plenty of allowance on the FJR and my old GS so they can fill in. I could call the insurance and get some allowance swaped over from one of the others, but they’d charge an admin fee for the pleasure so that‘s out. They’ve had enough off me this year with two additions of the FJR and S10 mid term.

I get your point, sounds legit for Canada.
My father has a insurance company so I know more then average about it. We have three types of insurance:
1: they only cover the cost from damage you do to other peoples belongings.
2: +windows, theft and weather damage
3: + your own losses or damage.
The more you want/need the more expensive. And yes if you behave (record) your can get a discount up to about 70%.
In the Netherlands you must insure anything with a license plate. And you get judged on many things, like: Age, postal code, your driving record, mileage, price when new, the kind of vehicle, HP, anti-theft features, anything else that is of influence on the risk.
Generally a young man in one of the big cities with a sportsbike or a sporty car is not able to insure or against very high rates.
I even had trouble insuring my 15 year old Volvo. I am 37, it has a V8 and costs new in Dutch Guilders (before Euro currency) over a 100K. They had extra requirements the car had to meet, like a good alarm etc.

Very similar to over here. 1: liability, 2: comprehensive, and 3: collision. Mileage doesn't affect the premium, but driver/rider age, and marriage status definitely does. Texas is supposed to be mandatory liability (#1) state. Many do not carry #1, which causes others to have to carry uninsured motorist (#4?). I carry #1 & #2 because #3 cost so much, that it wouldn't take long for the premiums to repair any damage from a crash that was my fault.
