Despite my plans for Ireland in 2 weeks time and Romania in summer, I’m going nowhere this year thanks to some muppet pulling a u turn 10 metres in front of me on Saturday and wiping me out.
My bikes a mess - at least what I saw of it, I’m not much better with a fractured spine and wrist - but I’m alive and the bike can be replaced

That is absolutely the best way to travel, I'm envious.
Canadian north has fantastic scenery and if you've never been there I'd highly recommend it.
The 10th international Super Tenere rally will be in Whitehorse July 8-10, it would be great to meet you there.
But if this is your solo ride unencumbered with dates and places and people then you do you. :)
Thanks. Do you have a link to a website or other info for the rally?

Cheers Boris I’m told 3-6 months to heal to 90% of what I was
I think the 3-6 months is optimistic, especially at our age. My kid had less serious injuries, and took 6 months. But I would expect a more complete recovery. Make sure you do all of your rehab; it's the key. Good luck.

Thanks Sierra, I don’t think what they meant was I’ll only make a 90% recovery, rather it’s a case of 90% reasonably quickly and the last 10% is a bit of a slog.
I know there’s nothing I can do about it, but I worry about my state of mind and the psychological effect it will have on me not being able to ride until I’m better along with the disappointment of thwarted plans - and not just my riding plans either

I understand your concern all too well. About 10 years ago I had an accident that put me off the bike for 9 months (developed a blood clot during recovery and couldn't ride on blood thinners until it was dissolved and the meds were out if my system).

During that time I found comfort and purpose in the planning of both short and long distance rides. Full maps and itinerary type of stuff (which is NOT like me). I found new roads, new destinations and bought new gear during that time even though I couldn't ride and my bike was not running. It gave me purpose while I healed.

Not saying it will work for you, but it helped me a lot.

Early June went to Barcalona for MotoGP, Brittany Ferries doing the bulk of the trip. Late August ManxGP.
Another trip on Brittany Ferries late September for a trip zig zagging along the Pyrenees on/off road with a group from SWW TRF.
Hmmm now what tyres for that one haha.

Just got back from my little trip. Swansea to Harwich for the overnight ferry to Hook of Holland. Then it was down through Belgium to and overnight stay in Luxembourg. And it was hot! 38C! Never mind, onward into France before crossing over to Nordlingen in Germany. Interesting town built in the crater of a meteorite strike millions of years ago.

The next day I set off for Schonwald right up close and personal with the Czech border, nice roads and lovely countryside. North now towards Berlin and an overnight stay in Lutherstadt-Wittenberg. A famous old town where Martin Luther preached with lots of attractive buildings and a river. Heading west now to Marburg and another good day on the bike.

West again to Belgium and Namur and Dinant are definitely worth a visit and I stayed in a nice hotel owned by a motorcyclist including a Harley Davidson and a Suzuki GSR750 bought new in 2002 with 165000 kilometres, yes, that’s right, one hundred and sixty five thousand kilometres! He told me he had never had any faults with it at all! Sadly, the hotel didn’t have a restaurant but it had beer and breakfast! Morning brought a ride north to Hook of Holland and an overnight ferry to Harwich and home the following day.

I did 2796 miles and most of them in temperatures between 35C - 38C and my S10 didn’t miss a beat. I poured Super Unleaded in with octane ratings from 96 up to 102 at Aral stations in Germany and the bike rewarded me with an overall fuel consumption of 58.3 miles per gallon. I have never seen that level of fuel economy from my s10 before but it seems to get better the more miles it does.

By the way, I only saw one other S10 and that was owned by a British guy who I met on the ferry outward and homeward and he had been to Denmark with his mate on an MT10, hope they got home safely, they were nice guys.
