Hi,
I just bought a 2014 with a touratech side rack. The bike didn't come with any bags and I am looking for some thin side bags for commuting duties.

I've seen the Givi 22N but beside these, are there any other thin bags to allow easy lane split (legal in CA).
I am not interested in soft bags, I need hard bags (plastics preferred) but thin
thank you

The OEM S10 panniers is about 35" edge to edge but I heard the Holan Nomada ones are even narrower (Left case has the cut out so that it is symmetrical) but they are Aluminum.

I now have the OEM S10 panniers, got them used. But originally, it was a Givi solution, with the KGR33 Kappa side box, and the edge to edge distance is about 38".

Not selling my rack just yet

From what I gather the oem seems to be the narrowest but the closing mechanism has issues

How much does a used set runs for including brackets ?

Happy Trails, ran into a guy in Creede Colorado that had them. I would definitely look at them anyway.

The OEM bags are among the narrowest, that's why I picked them. I've not had any trouble splitting lanes with them mounted. My main limitation are the bars/mirrors/handguards, they are wider than the bags.

Generally if the bars go thru the boxes will.
That said, the Happy Trails can be quite narrow, depending on the mounting racks.

Another recommendation to take a look at the Holan's, their rack design lends to a very narrow tucked-in profile.

I've shared lanes a few times on Cali visits and didn't have any concerns...bars / mirrors fit then the bags easily fit.

Jesse made some skinny panniers, but the bars are the widest part of the bike. I lane split just fine with 36/46L Touratech bags.

The Caribou luggage is pretty narrow, again depending on your racks.

Givi E22 are the narrowest boxes I've seen, plastic too, a bit small but might be ideal, not sure how you'd fit them to TT racks though.

That's what I'm trying to figure out before looking at other options.

My Pelican 1520s are 33" wide mounted on SW Motech racks, if you open to using non-standard side cases. I just finished them up today and they look pretty good with 25L of storage each side.

Another thing to consider is storage space. While narrower means smaller storage capacity, how small is acceptable to you? There is also aesthetics looks such as symmetry when viewed from the rear. Majority are non-symmetry.

I'm thinking some small bags for commuting is the primary purpose.

I have some Hepco Becker Gobi from my KTM 950 ADV, I'm also looking at just swaping my rack to make them work.... but that would be for weekends only.

too many options....

I found what I’m looking for.
Sw Motech rack with trax bag for touring and I’ll get Givi E22N for commuting.

Both can mount on the sw Motech rack.

My touratech black rack will be up for sale shortly (1 to 2 weeks

Thank you all!

I had Trax bags on my Triumph Tiger 1050.
I was T-boned and the Tig did get totaled the bags handled the hit decent enough that it didn't pop open.
But yes totaled beyond repair along with the Tiger!! :( My right leg is still not the same, Lesson learned!! :'(
I had the first generation Trax cans the lid seal glue is barely holding them on so check them and give them some extra glue if needed.
Other than that i loved them.
