First gear, T mode, I can almost go little more than walking speed.

you can go on ST? I curious how slow I can crawl on trails.
With hand off the clutch about 7mph in 1st. As Jeff stated, Walking pace or less depending on your balance using clutch.

I just adjusted my clutch the other day to start using 2 finger modulation. I have a shorty brake lever and full size clutch lever. Clutch pull is pretty light but for some reason I’m struggling with using just 2 fingers on the clutch to control the speed of this beast. I really need to work on my slow speed skills.

I’m hoping the Jimmy Lewis course I take next month will show me some good tips and stuff to practice. FWIW, I’ll be using my Beta for that class.

7 mph on first gear? that's quite good, although first is usually too jerky when correcting, so usually I ride in second
so I hope it's too high.
Having a flashed ECU, all throttle cable slack dialed out and carfully balanced throttle bodies helps a lot with the jerkyness.

With the ability to use ONLY the back brake, very low (2-3 mph) is very possible. I can easily do 2-3 second balance stops. Using the back brake, and the gray area, you can do bar lock circles. I was pretty good on the ST 1300....the Tenere....even better. But, as robson advised, if you're not used to the touchy throttle...it is more difficult. This bike does not feel her weight. Easiest bike ever to go slow on.

I meant of course going dead slow without touching the clutch, on chain bikes I can easily adjust this by changing sprockets
but with ST I am stuck with whatever gear ratio they gave me.

Not entirely true. You are stuck with the sprocket sizes that are manufactured and will fit on your bike. And you compromise speed somewhere else unless you change transmission gears. You could do this on the S10 as well (not practical).

There are plenty of other bikes that might be a better fit for you. You might go look at a Honda Trail 90. It has a High/Low transmission AND you can change sprocket sizes.

Or maybe a Rokon is what your looking for. Two wheel drive, slow like you want. CVT transmission.
Be thankful you have so many choices out there.

It’s down to you my friend. How slow can YOU ride?
Unfortunately it's not that simple. I guess not many here ride off-road, technical terrain judging on responses I got, but that's ok.
It's big bike, I can understand. Never mind, soon I'll get to test ST myself.

Yes, it is indeed a Big Bike, but it’s a big bike with very good balance and a flexible and forgiving motor. As some of my fellow Forum members have said, put it in T mode and away you go. Lots of us ride off-road, many of us have competed in Trials, Enduros and Moto-Cross and ridden both fast and slow off-road over technical terrain as you will find for yourself if you browse this Forum. You may as well have asked “how long is a piece of string”, but without stating what your level of experience actually is. I am assuming if you have to ask, then you have little experience. This is a friendly, helpful and polite Forum full of many people with rich and varied view points and experience, but with a common love and respect for the Super Ten and it’s vast capabilities, so please do not make an unqualified assumption that “not many here ride off-road, etc”.

And when you do, a lot of the questions you have will be answered by your own direct, first hand experience. Until then, you have to accept our direct, first hand experience. 7 mph is the slowest I've gone regularly in 1st gear. The bike is not jerky, the rider is. It's all about the rider learning to balance a smaller range of throttle movement smoothly.

As WJBertrand wrote, there are things you can do to help make it easier. Throttle cable slack on Yamaha bikes is spec'd greater than I prefer. I always adjust out nearly all of the slack. And more than once, have had to re-adjust it when some well meaning tech changed it after doing my valve adjustment/re-shim.

You didn't ask about off road technical trail techniques, you asked what's the lowest speed you can go w/o throttle? The bike has a lot of low end torque and will grunt along up rocks and trails quite well w/o drama and wheel spin.

If you regularly ride nasty, technical trails, a 600lbs motorcycle with a 130mph top end is probably not the best tool in the arsenal.

Given the proper amount of skill, it is, however, doable. I would recommend bringing a buddy along for when you let it take a nap and you need to wake it up. Before someone says it's about technique, I had this happen to me in a nasty, slick, rock strewn trail, on a side hill. Had buddy not been there with me, I would have been able to lift it, but not able to get back on. Neither of us had any business being on a trail like that (he has an Africa Twin), but we had a blast nonetheless...

I remember those beasts!!

Fast? Anybody can ride fast; slow reveals how well you can actually ride.
Boy, isn't that the truth!! It's something I really have to work on. I'm a slow rider as it is but doing lock to lock turns on this bike is going to take some practice. And yes it's all about clutch control. This is what I'm working on right now. The 2 finger modulation is going to take some time. I have gotten lazy over the years by using the relying on the Rekluse on both my KTM 300 and Beta.

If you like math, i dont have the bike with me, but i think the tread on the rear wheel is around 199, 77 cm (using 2pi x ratio) the perfect, would be measure it on the floor....so at 1000 rpm in 1st gear, it gives me 8,13 km/h.....9B9F14F1-719F-40B8-A670-C9D896F30F46.jpeg

Although I understand what you're getting at....math can't really be used exclusively. Because, at least for me, my RPMs will be about the 1-1.5k mark....with a little back brake applied....and the clutch in the grey area....she will stop....bars to the lock....release the clutch juuuust a little....let up on the brake....and turn. The key is the "rear brake only". It can be done with linked, but not as easily.
