Found out that the bike gets really good gas mileage.

Stuck behind a Highway Patrol Trooper for over 50 miles today. 72 mph feels like molasses. Picked him up just outside Vegas and he went the whole dang way to Alamo before pulling someone over. Then on my way back I knew he was fishing so had to stay "sane mph" till I found him. Added almost an hour to the trip.

72 MPH for 50 miles drafting behind a LEO vehicle (Crown Vic, Taurus, Charger, Explorer, Durango, Tahoe) should have yielded you about 49.8 MPG!

Spent some time lane splitting when Vegas pd pulled me over and informed me there was something wrong with because I was lane splitting. After which I informed him are you a rider? Enough said. This was 2 years ago.

I pulled this off two weeks ago, a new record for me with a flashed ECU, "T" Mode, OEM windscreen,
Yammy side cases, GIVI top case and my large melon head capped with a peak/visored SHOEI X2:

Looks excellent. Very nice additions. I like the cargo nets and the visor organizer. I’ve been trying to think of a good place to keep my registration/insurance paperwork. I do remove my panniers sometimes. Right now I am carrying them in my wallet which I don’t like either.
I carry mine in a ziplock bag in my jacket pocket. This way I always have it with me.

The only time that I've seen 53 mpg was when my boys and I went to Kerrville TX to visit the "sisters". Between the tight curves, and the T-12's gobbs of torque, speed and rpm stayed low. Power on from the last curve. . . . power off, and use that wonderful engine breaking as you enter the next curve. . . . lean waaaay over. . . . slowly power on as you exit. . . . rinse, repeat.

MY REAR FLASHING BRAKE LIGHT IDEA

Here is my home made flashing brake light for the Tenere.....I didnt want "added on" LEDs like Hyperlites ..Custom Dynamics or Skene P3s
Bought a Whelen TIR3 emergency strobe light for $25 (programed flashing patterns not used)
It fits where the orig rear reflector was.
(I can add a reflector easily if needed)

Took a bit of patience cutting the rear fender....but ..I like the result

This pic shows the brightness compared to the tail light circuit (temporary wired)

This pic shows the brightness with the brake circuit engaged (need a video to show flash/steady pattern)

I do have a ViziTec SupaBrake II brake light flasher on the bike which controls both the orig brake light & the Whelen TIR3 LED light that I just added

I could have run the stock brake light from the built in programming on the Whelen....but it flashes constantly on brake & that can get annoying to other folks.

I still need to permanantly wire the Whelen on the bike...but thats later...its kinda warm right now. BREAK TIME

I have gotten good milage. In the 50 s. Then I just started enjoying my machine. Milage went to around 42 - 45 mpg. I look at it this way. The little gas savings is a false sense of economy. Taking it easy on these engines can lead to carbon buildup.

Besides, fun is fun and slow is usually not as fun.
Over the past year (bought my bike one year ago today) 36 MPG over the 16,000 miles. I spend most of my time in the 85-90mph range.

Did a well needed cleaning and installed some tank pads, engine/diff oil change and tires. Tomorrow it gets a new battery and then it's ready for a new season.
Did you remove the OEM decals on the tank before installing the Tank Pads? Have same bike and same pads (enroute).

Not that you're talking to me but I just cleaned with alcohol and stuck my tank pads. I don't think there's a need to remove the decals!
