Where!!??!! Thank You in Advance! How long was turn around? How were your valves? What mileage?
Casey Cycle City, Newport News Virginia. Really good people. I think it took them a few days. I dropped it off on a Saturday with the understanding that it would be two weeks before I could pick it back up. They called the following Tuesday to let me know the bike was done.

I rode precisely 3.2 miles - why do I tell you this? Because I've fixed the left-hand button on my (Gen 1) dash and can now see the trip meters after 6 months without them! I am genuinely please that the fix worked, and a little surprised that I didn't wreck anything while I was doing it.

I'll put more details in the Technical section.:)

Finally accepted it wasn't getting any warmer. Stripped the rear apart for regular greasing and preparation to send the shock off for a refresh.
I am considering removing the remote hydraulic preload adjuster and going with just a normal threaded adjuster. I guess it will depend on how easy to find an adjuster and how much it will cost.View attachment 61006View attachment 61007View attachment 61008
yrusellm, you mention you will "send the shock off for a refresh" why is that? is that part of a regular maintenance? also you mention thay you you are considering "removing the remote hydraulic preload adjuster" why is in your mind to do so? what is being the driver to look in to these actions? would like to understand and see the benefits of doing that! Regards.

Yes regular maintenance. I personally have a normal service done on my shock every two years. Disassembly, inspection for worn parts, new oil and fresh nitrogen recharge. If I was to put on huge miles on my shock I would do it every year, but lately my miles are low and 2 years or every 15-20 000 km is my target.

My remote preload adjuster is showing some weeping of oil. It hasn't lost it's charge completely, but it has lost 1mm of adjustment due to a tiny oil leak. A simple threaded adjuster will work fine for me. In my mind simple is better and I only need to change rear preload when I load up for a trip. It only takes a few minutes to do this , so switching to a threaded adjuster is something I am considering.

I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
Smoking deal on a phone/gps mount. Been using this a few days now and really like it. I didn't want to spend $50 on another ram mount because I will only use it a few times a year on trips with the GPS. So decided to take a chance on this from amazon. Shocked by how good the quality is for $10. If you don't have a phone mount, buy this. Would work on the bars, but its perfect for mounting on the windshield bar (will post a picture later).

Spent the day cleaning out the bike and putting things *away* instead of in a pile or box. Re-installed the factory passenger handles and passenger seat for the first time since I brought the bike home in '16, 37k miles ago. I realized it's the first time, ever, that the Russell Day Long seat has been on the bike with the passenger seat. Fits! :D Changed the oil and filter with some nice red Motul 7100 4T 10/40wt and a Yamaha filter. Logged the service in the owner's manual and drew lines from 45k miles to 100k miles for then new owner to use.

Rounded up the various bits and pieces that go with the bike to the new owner. Extra gas tank, take off plastic bits and bolts. FSM, clutch cover gasket, 10 Mahle filters, odds and ends. All in a box in the garage now instead of spread out in several places. Dug out the Optima 10º 10wt LED spots to install for the new owner. That will be tomorrow's task, along with some cleaning and fresh tires.

Yup, that's it. Let it pour out. Re-install drain plug and fill radiator and the reservoir if it needs it. I used 2 quarts of YamahaCool. I didn't go crazy and totally flush the system because,;
1. I used the same stuff that the factory used or what's recommended for the bike
2. I'm guessing (hopefully correctly) that whatever residual is left in system is very minimal.
Hope this helps.
