This evening after finishing my first ride sitting out in the hotel parking lot I installed the Altrider Foot for the kickstand, and the Denali Soundbomb Mini. I have an Altrider headlight gaud that will go on in the morning, just to dark out there tonight, plus I was getting hungry.

I did this, 2019 season is over :(.
The next..about 5 month is in the winter garden.

9539 km this season, ( 7 month) all on the Metzler Karoo Street, and the front have plenty of rubber, the rear will last about 2500 km more i think.
I actually think the front will last one more rear tire.

22,7 km/l for the whole season.

Last tank of gas, I did 446 km.

ODO 22997 km

Gave my black beauty a really good washing and polishing this afternoon. Had more dirt and grime on her than I had realized, also lots of bug guts on the windshield and front end. But she cleaned up beautifully and after polishing she's as slick as snot on a glass doorknob.20191103_182413.jpg

These were my weapons of choice this afternoon:

I love the metalflake in the paint on this bike. This is the first black bike I've ever owned, and I really wanted a red, yellow, or blue one, but this metalflake black (Or is it supposed to be black pearl? It's a 2016) has really grown on me. Even my wife loves the color. Here's a photo of the tank with my camera's flash turned on. You can really see the metalflake in this photo, but it doesn't do it justice. It's lots prettier in person.

In the first photo, anybody notice anything that might be a little bit unusual for a Tenere?

For my birthday, my awesome, thoughtful wife gave me a spirit bell, aka gremlin bell or good luck bell, for my bike. AND she knew that it should be mounted on the lowest part of the frame towards the front, AND she mounted it on my Tenere herself! Also, when she found out that the Tenere really doesn't have a lower frame in the front, she did a little research and found it was okay to hang it off the lower part of the crash bars. I am a blessed man!

I've done that a bunch of times. I usually do it in the scorching sun alone out in the boondocks. I finally got a antigravity xp3. It fits perfect under an Altrider rack.
I got a similar unit from Autozone. Do you remove the side panel to connect to the battery? I do have a battery tender jack, but not sure what it is fused at.

(Or is it like most insurance, never actually used)

For the full side size soundbomb used the provided relay and wire taps. Yes I removed the side panel and went to the battery.

I was talking about jumping/boosting with a Lithium Ion jumper pack.

That jack is not one you can use to jump. You could charge through it if you just leave the pack on but if you try to jump from it, you're gonna have a bad time.

The wire is too small a gauge to support the surge from a jump.

They make jumpable connectors though.

Yeah they make the square/round connector fused at 400 amps with the circuit built in for the portable jump boxes to read. I have one on my bike so I don't have to take up space with the clamps. Bonus comes with an SAE adapter so if I do want to hook up a tender or a air infiltrator I can do that off the same wiring.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have tried to boost at the tender plug... Let's just say there was some smoke

Oil change, new tires and new top case. The ST was in need of some attention. I changed the oil and did something I've never done before with any of my motorcycles, I'm using a new oil. I've used Rotella before it was cool. In the ST I've used T6 5W-40 since I bought it. For this oil change I switched to AmsOil Metric 10w-40. I did this for two reasons, the increase weight and just to see if there's a difference. The tires are Dunlop RoadSmart 3. Coming from a set of Anakee 3s of which i was not impressed by the front tire since it wore out at 6k miles. The rear is still in good shape and I kept it just in case I have a major failure on the back tire. The top case I replaced because the old Givi En-36 was starting to show signs of cracking. Happy with it as it came from my previous bike which had 30k miles on it of which the top case was on the bike for every mile and then another 17k miles on the ST. Happy so far with the Trekker 52. Also, a bit of a Rossi fan!

Releasing the magic smoke is never good.
Hmmm. Do you mean you attempted to do a start from another 12 volt source?
Car or another motorcycle. Was the car or
Other vehicle running?
Did your battery tender lead have an inline fuse?
Thanks

I had the harness fix recall done at a local dealer that does mostly dirt bikes and side-by-sides. This may have been the first Tenere recall they've done. After riding home, I spent a half hour tightening things they left loose, replacing a missing screw, correcting harness routing, and looking more closely at their work (after finding all the loose stuff).
I never experienced any of the problems associated with the bad splices, but decided I'd risk having the recall done anyway.
The guys at the shop seem fine and knowledgeable, but the workmanship leads me to think someone was rushed. Having had all that stuff apart to check the valves a while ago myself, I don't think the two hours Yamaha allows is enough time for the recall.
The experience reminds me why I do my own maintenance and repairs, whenever possible.
