This afternoon, after a nap, I installed HeliBars and changed and bled the front brake fluid. Then installed the Mama Yama factory winglets/deflectors. Decided to go with the factory deflectors rather than the El Cheapos because the factory ones are made from polycarbonate (REALLY tough, nearly indestructible) and the cheap ones are made from acrylic, which fractures relatively easily and isn't nearly as strong.

Oh hey, I installed my Helibars as well. I ordered the cheap winglets because I wanted them in red and there's not enough lateral stress to cause a fracture, to my knowledge.

I also went ahead and added grip skins as I'm used to a slightly bigger grip, I wanted to retain the factory heat, and I needed a bit more width for my hand rest.

Replaced my Mitas E07 Dakars with Mitas E07+ Dakar rear and E07 Dakar front. With this set, I calculate that my No-Mar Cycle Hill Tire changer has paid for itself. I will say that the 4-ply Dakars are at my physical limit with this tool, but I always manage, even though just barely. Next up is some routine maintenance at a tick over 72,000 miles, then off the Arizona high country for some camping with Mrs. Boondocker.

Had to make a choice, 75* and sunshine.

1) Spoon on a new front Dakar tire

2) Go for a ride

Any wagers?

I did note a slight mould misalignment on the tire. Looks like about half a mm, so it should wear out. You can barely see it in the picture.

Well, I went ahead and added my ABS disable switch for off-road descents on a loose or unpacked grade.

Made up a harness, covered in auto-loom.

Routed it from the fuse to the inline fuse

And from there, to the switch via the least obtrusive route I could find.

Stuck it right between the two switches for the two power ports on the dash.

I took it her for a ride, then I got back home and work on her for a while, did the brakes and clutch fluids and antifreeze replacement. Found that front bake fluid was very dark so I fill good doing it.
I'll be out for the week so she will have a long sleep and I will not bother her.
Have a great week.

Monday I ended up taking my hound to the vet for an ear infection. That cost me $180US. Ouch.

Today I installed the Denali mini air horn. Best cheap mod so far. A 5 minute install that’s plug and play and sounds like an older GM horn. No more Roadrunner horn.

I also reinstalled the skid plate/protector. Then enjoyed a nice ride after topping off the tires with air.

The last owner never even wore the chicken strips off the sides of the front tire.

I’m quite thrilled with this bike especially with the ECU as it’s quite fast in S, and very manageable in T most of the time.

Since we have great riding weather until Sunday I’m tempted to either ride up to Toronto or go on a side road trip through the Berkshires of Eastern NY and Western MA. That would be a 10 hour day, but I would drain any old gas and be able to put some Lucas carbon deposit cleaner in on the long rude home on I-90.

Let us know here how it holds up. Mine is slightly discolored and Ive been thinking about painting it.
I had to let it cure for 7 days and took it for a ride over the weekend. It was a 200 mi ride and looks ok, so far.
Let me have more miles and I will report back with a picture of how it works. My concern will be the rock chipping, mainly comming from the front tire.
I will keep posting.
Regards to all.

Installed shorty levers. They're a little more adjustable than the standard ones, and I ride using two fingers, so they give me almost a perfect grip.

I still have to install the Helibar, the grip skins I wanted, Deftoner's caps in place of the adhoc ones I created while waiting, steel radiator guards instead of the plastic one I made, shorter clutch and brake levers, mod up the ABS disconnect switch, install the slipscreens (winglets), replace the clutch fluid and bleed it, install the speed bleeders (sigh), add the exhaust shield up above the skidplate, re-clamp the LEDs since the current clamps are disintegrating, replace the oil cap with the billet one coming tomorrow, throw the shock sox into my bags, throw the newly arriving dynaplug setup into my bags, and do an oil change.
I think I'm good on my list now with the exception of installing the winglets (they aren't here yet), putting in the radiator guard (I have the steel gutter guard material, just need to find the time to make it), the exhaust header shields (they aren't here yet), do the one last speed bleeder on the front right brake (they aren't here yet), and doing an oil change.

I'm also going to fab up some guards out of Kydex since I have a couple spare sheets laying around, at least the side-stand switch.

Well, I think I have no more to put. The good thing about global trade is that there is always someone who puts something on offer, it is a matter of waiting, and there is always a friend who travels nearby and can bring it to you, so as not to pay for shipping
