Unable to turn off my auxiliary LED lights.
Had a weird experience with the aux lights (three of them).
I installed three aux lights on my new 2018 Tenere this year. Everything worked fine until.....I got caught in the rain recently. I wired the aux lights using the bike's aux light plug located in the vicinity of the battery. I used a 12 volt relay along with a separate dedicated on off switch to control the aux lights.
I shut down the bike after riding in the rain and removed the key. The aux lights remained on, but were flickering.
I checked the on off switch and verified the key was off and removed. These lights are wired using the relay and the bike's aux plug which has three wires, black red and a brown "trigger wire". The lights could not be on unless the key was on.
I did some troubleshooting and fortunately I had the brains to buy a new relay which I plugged into the wiring and presto, problem solved. The area where the relay and wiring was dry and I had used electrical tape around the area where the relay plugs into the wiring. I put it all back together and I placed some sense foam around the relay.
Perhaps vibration was the cause or the relay just went bad.
If I have this problem again and I hope not I will remove the lower panel on the right side of the bike and unplug the relay,.
Has anyone had a similar experience with a relay??
Thanks for any inputs.
