I think that particular book I used is called an Encyclopedia?? Lots of interesting facts and pictures about a lot of stuff. Not sure if i need it for anything besides as a jack cushion. Hahahahaha. Couldn't resist. I read a post about just taking one caliper off but decided to go all in and clean and check around the front end.

Put a new battery in just as a precaution as I was having longer crank times and have no idea how old it is.

I get annoyed when people do dumb stuff.....
The tabs on the battery cable quite clearly indicate how to put the bolts on. The tabs indicate that you should put the cables on the front side of the terminals not the top. Why would you bend the cables to MAKE them fit on the top? I just don't get it. I really don't.

In continuing adventures of working on the bike Superman must have owned before me......

There is no universe where a 3mm allen head should be this tight. I had to take a saw and slot the head to get a screwdriver in it. No way it was coming out.

Allen socket probably would have worked, they are much stronger than a normal Allen wrench.
But yes many folks over tighten the crap out of stuff simply because they don’t know better.
This was after trying a socket on the impact drill..... This was just handguards! I was taking them off because its too dang hot for wind protection. The left side one was a bit snug, but the right would not budge.

From the twisting direction, seems like it was tightening

For the hand guards?
Yep one side I'm assuming factory had a tiny weld (or is it glue blob?) on the nut holding it to the lower bracket. This other side I had the problem with its a reverse thread and different nut and screw. Assume when he was changing out the levers or putting the cruise control on he did who knows what? And had this bolt and screw sitting there that were roughly the same size.

Mind you this is the guy that I had to get the breaker bar out to take the front drain plug off while the rear was maybe finger tight....
