I took a longer ride to my summerhouse over the weekend, some 250 km from my home. The major objective was to test the Touratech saddle. While riding there I put the Touratech on and I needed the first break in about 2 hours of riding. The saddle is pretty hard from the beginning, but it has somewhat changing profile, so over the time you can change your sitting position and then different ass muscles get the pressure which helps to relax the others and so you can survive pretty long before need for rest. All in all I arrvied after some 3,5 h ride in a pretty good shape. My bottom was somewhat tired, but in no mean in pain.
Ok, then on the way back home on Sunday I installed the stock saddle and in the beginning it felt nice and soft, much better than Touratech. However, after 1,5 h ride I badly needed a break. Changing position on the stock saddle did not offer any relieve. After the first stop I needed another one in 40 minutes and then yet another in 30 minutes and by that time my ass was aching so badly, that in full desperation i change back the Touratech seat. What a difference! The final 20 minutes home went without any issues.
Touratech has 3 modles: low, standard and high. I had to take the high option as they did not have the standard in stock and I had no time to wait, going for a 2 weeks trip to Germany in the end of week. The high option I set on the lower seat position, but I was still sitting slightly higher than on the higher position of the stock seat.

My experience is the same. I love the feel of a soft seat on my butt, but I get real sore fast. I have tried the stock seat, then a custom Laam seat (didn't work for me), a Saddleman seat, and a Sargent seat. The Sargent is extremely firm, almost like plopping your butt down on a park bench. The strange thing is that i found it is the only seat I can sit in for hours on end without getting sore. I have done over 600 mile days in it easy. A week ago I drove over 300 miles to go on a 2019 GSA demo ride. Little did I know it was going to be a 4 hour 163 mile demo ride. Less than an hour into the ride my ass was sore on the BMW seat and stayed that way for the rest of the demo. Once we got back to the dealership I got back on my own bike and rode over 300 miles back home without issue. My butt actually felt better when I got home than it did when I started the trip home after getting off of the BMW. One of the things I noticed is the stock BMW seat was much narrower than my Sargent seat.
This is the seat on the bike 2 days ago at the lake.IMG_4527.JPG

For the last 5,000 miles I’ve been using a Corbin seat, other than being a little more slippery than I prefer it’s been great ! Before using it I kinda suspected it might be to hard but nope it actually works real nice for me. I put over 40,000 miles on stock Tenere seats but after about 200 miles in a day they always started getting uncomfortable, with the Corbin that doesn’t happen to me. I suspect the main thing that makes the Corbin work so much better is the way the seat top is sort of dished out.

That was something I missed. When I first bought my Sargent seat it came with the Carbon Fiber look vinyl. It was way too slick and with my riding pants on. I would slide up to the tank every time I touched the brakes. I sent it back to them this past winter and they recovered it with the DTX vinyl. It doesn't look as fancy but no more sliding around. Much better to have it function than look fancy.

I am by no means an experienced tire critic. When I picked up my used ‘13 S10 last June it was still wearing its original Metzeler Tourance EXPs with about 8K miles on them, the rear was quite squared off and the front was moderately worn. The previous owner bought this ‘13 S10 as a left over in late ‘15 and did not put on the road till Spring ‘16.
The howling that I heard from my new Anakee Adventures may in fact be normal for brand new rubber.
Perhaps I was just used to riding (1,200 miles worth) around on the worn out Metzlers?
I had them fitted yesterday, but only did the few miles back home. After the Road 5s' I can feel the slight "bobble" of the AA tread on termac. I hope they are not as loud as the Anakee 3. I could hear the Road 5s when leaning into a fast curve.

Had been about 10-15k miles since I balanced the TB so I broke out the CarbTune and did it last night. Such a quick and painless job on this bike -- love it.

Might have been a little smoother on the way into work this morning, but I barely tweaked anything -- it held the previous balance pretty much spot on.

Hi to all
Today I started the cleaning process, the bike was very dirty, like being never cleaned before, this is the way I am so far.

I am very satisfied with the machine I got!!. still working in the registration to be able to take it to the road, I will be a couple of day before I get the documents and license plate. I think I will get them early next week. In the mean time I just enjoy cleaning it and fixing details and knowing the toy.
Regards to all!

Well, I didn’t get to do anything to it today, but I did get home from being gone for a month. So tomorrow I get to pick her up from the 26k service, test ride my new helmet, and add the Techspec tank pads, short levers, and Givi tanklock adapter and tank bag I ordered while I was gone. While I’m at it I’ll swap the headlights on my wife’s S10 to LEDs.

installed my windscreen braces (thanks Propsoto) and put some grip tape on the top of my panniers to protect the powdercoat and so things don't slide around when i have something strapped on

I find that the stock rear brake pedal pad is woefully undersized for my liking.
I just bought this Alt Rider bolt on that works a beaut, albeit at a ridiculous high price.
Installation necessitated brake lever height and brake light switch adjustments of which I found to be tedious to get just right.

Replaced the Cyclops Adventure LED bulbs with Hikari Ultra LED Bulbs.

The cyclops bulbs seemed to be getting dim and I already have experience with the Hikari Ultras because I put them in my truck. The install went smoothly and the Hikari Ultras are brighter, with a wider pattern than the Cyclops. Also the build quality on the Hikari ultras is far superior to the Cyclops LEDs. The Cyclops plastic mounting collar actually broke as I removed them. The Hikaris are all metal and feel much more substantial, as well as more precisely made.

Changed my tires for the first time on my new equipment. First time I've done my own tires in ~30 plus years. Locals wanted too much, ($35-70 each, wheel off the bike). Tusk bead breaker bolted to the bench, (3) 14" tire spoons and lots of RuGlyde. Dismount was fine. Front mounting in 95F was easy. Rear mount in 75F was more work. Some blocks to keep the lower bead up in the center of the wheel and some clamps to pull the top bead down got me there. May look into a mount/dismount bar next time.

Zero issue seating the beads thanks to a tip from a friend to make a 'tool' of a short bit of hose over a Q/R fitting to inflate quickly and seat beads. My 2 gal home compressor did great. Made some minor errors, but nothing critical. Balanced on a Harbor Freight balancer that I got 25% off with a coupon. Cheap rim protectors worked, but are toast after two tires. I have a better quality pair that I held in reserve. I'll be ordering another pair of those for next time too. (Pit Posse)

replaced one cyclops LED that died on me 4 days ago.... new bulb from cyclops had some improvements . I think I installed them about 1 and a half years ago . I think . the mounting collar is now metal ,one improvement that boxy thing is slimmer and smaller so easier to stash... see how it last.
