Felt a knock/clunk in the steering about 6k km ago, felt the dreaded notch 1200k ago when turning the bars when parking, rode to work last week and the bike was dropping sharply into slow corners ... on weekend pulled the top triple off.
Top steering lock nut did not take any effort to undo from rubber washer, Lower steering nut was still very tight - weird!
Only inspected top bearing = OK, re-greased top bearing and re-torqued nuts back upto spec.
Test Ride was OK
\Bike has ~58,000 km

I would have at least center “standed” it with weight on the rack to hold it off the front and lowered the trees to get a brush worth of grease on the lower bearing. Mine needed it.

I was working in my backyard on grass (board under c-stand) as I dont have access to a garage - it was a quick and drity check and refit.
I'll be doing a better job of greasing the steering head bearing in the next 2-3 months.

I did a bit of work on the headlights today, first off I installed the LED parking lamps and man are they ever bright!, then installed the Lamin-x clear protective film. The first one gave me fits but after several reapplications it went on ok albeit a little off since I had to trim more than the second one. The second one went on really well, it was lined up perfectly so I had to only cut off the tabs. I also installed a Puig headlight protector ….yeah, yeah I know redundant but I had it so I put it on. Then lastly I installed a Powerbronze rear hugger, a little fiddley but was able to get installed, not perfectly aligned but it will do. It looks pretty good if they are your thing. I always wanted a hugger on my Vmax after I stretched and widened the swingarm to fit a 200/ 18 radial but didn't want to have mounting tabs welded on then have to send it out to have it coated again. I also did a quick clean up of the plastics with Plexis.

Added the $15 kick stand plate from eBay. Very decent quality. Thanks for the tip here on the forum.

Swapped the battlewings back on. The front Kenda Big block was down to the wear indicators. I could have squeezed more out of the rear, but it’s pretty worn too. Right around 4500 miles FC694415-8DF4-4706-9157-65080412CAE6.jpeg9A58EF0C-0C33-47DE-B54E-152221E6ED84.jpeg

I got my kick stand plate today (Ebay, China)
The black bottom plate appears to fit beneath the side stand acuaractley, but the upper or top portion will need some bending and or filing to make it fit onto the bike's side stand.
What did you have to do to get it to fit your Tenere side stand??

When I held it against the kickstand base, it looked like it wouldn't be a snug fit, and I contemplated filing a little, but then I figured that if the fit was too perfect, it may not have enough tension to be tight.
So I just put loctite on the bolts and tightened them to 4Nm and it makes a tight, snug fit.

How do you like the Daylong seats ? Is it really the best aftermarket out there? I keep thinking about them but that's a lot of dough. I'm currently on the stocker, but begin to feel it big time around the 250 mile mark.... I believe a Russel with a backrest could be the perfect ticket!

Ok, stupid me, er mea culpa, no bending or adjustment required, as I initially put it on backwards.
It does fit and I highly recommend it

Check out Terry's custom seats. I can ride mine all day long and never even think about my arse anymore. The stocker sucked after 10 minutes for me. They are a fraction of the cost of a RDL. The cost is what turned me off on RDL. Seat concepts on the right. I had a lamb skin velcroed on it. Exact same shape as the stocker. I don't think it was any better than the stock one. Mine was $250 a year ago. He had a core seat pan. So there was no down time.IMG_6354.JPG

I installed a Madstad bracket on my ‘13 shortly after getting the bike. At that time Madstad didn’t provide side support brackets-or not with my bracket anyway.

Recently found myself on the Madstad website and saw that they do now come with the side supports. Contacted Madstad (helpful folks) and ordered a set of supports for $30. Installed easily in 10 minutes. Huge improvement in stability.
