I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
Installed the Graves manual Tensioner.
Copied the spacer idea I saw in an older post by Limey. Worked good with no issues. Too darn cold to start the bike up today, maybe we will have a warmer day soon and I will throw the battery back in and start it up.
Thanks for sharing that trick. How long did the job take more or less?

The credit for the trick goes to Limey. I just copied his method.

It could be done in probably a couple of hours. My bike is up for the winter and time is not a concern.
I was in no rush and did it over a couple afternoons while fixing the long dowel issue and some other stuff I wanted to finish.
Took more time to lift the tank and move the wiring than to actually remove the cover and swap the tensioners.

More like what I will do next month, remove the hugger when the back end gets serviced. This is after a 40-mile trip, about 10 were
on damp roads with a few puddles. A waste of money

I was planning on fitting a hugger but had heard mixed reports, your pics have put a final nail in the coffin of that idea! Many thanks.

Just done my first oil and filter change on my 2017. Got it dead level. Took 4litres to get it to the top line? Is this normal ? The manual says it only takes 3.4?

I have never had to use that much. I can see maybe 3.6-3.7 litres to get to top of window, 4 seems way too much.
Did you follow the procedure in the manual? I personally add the amount in the spec, warm the bike up for 10 minutes and then let it rest for a few minutes, and check level.
The sump design of the Tenere is a bit different and requires a different approach than just dumping in oil till it fills the sight glass.
If you haven't already, read the oil thread in the tech section.

The lack of ambient temperature display drove me nuts. I tried to find an aftermarket that would look decent on the S10.

Qiilu Mini 3-in-1 Motorcycle Digital Air Temperature & Time Clock & DC 12V Voltmeter Voltage Meter LED Display

Not sure how long it will last, but it was $21.
The 2 reviews are bad, but I did not have any problems to get it to work. 5F499CF5-7EEF-4219-A8E6-CE479E29AC63.jpeg

I improvised and used a Staples Binder Clip for a base to mount it.
I took it for a ride today and it met my expectations.

Mounted waterproof motorcycle dashcam setup for front and rear loop recording. Installed a wider kick stand base.

When I thought about where to mount mine it went beneath the seat due to having no desire to use it or have the distraction while riding. At 1080p and thru the windshield, the video quality is great for license plates and traffic incidents but not good enough for home videos. If you want an event recorder it seems to me an external button was available. Been two years so I may wrong on the button.

In any event, I've only wanted info off the video a couple of times and with a 64 chip in the thing it records for many hours. Plenty of time that evening to pull the chip and copy it to the laptop.

The bike holds more oil than the oil change figure shows. If you applied extra effort to drain as much oil as possible, it’s likely you’ll need more than is recommended.

Total engine oil - 4.20 L (4.44 US qt, 3.70 Imp.qt) from the service manual.

That's a very good point but usually that would require tipping it from side to side and waiting for what could be hours, and even that is not the same as disassembling the engine, which takes the full 4.2L. Regardless, adding up to 4 quarts with a filter change, hurts nothing with this dry sump engine. Once the bike is fully warmed up, and standing straight up, as long as the oil is not WAY over the top of the window, you should be good to go.

You're going to find it filled above the window after your first ride. 4L is a lot, hopefully you did this fill on the centerstand? I put in a bit more than the owner's manual called for 3.6 quarts, using instead 3.75 qt. It'll be dead even in the window after starting, letting it warm to 140F or more, then shutting off and checking after 5 minutes or more, which is how the manual says to do it. After the first time I ride it the oil window will look completely filled. It'll stay like that until the next oil change.

I took it for a ride and then chocked it up level ( no centre stand on the z) and then sucked out about 0.5 litre until it was dead on the top line.

Spoke to the Yam dealer who tried to sell me 0.5 litre bottle of Yam final drive oil for £28!! When I looked he also had Silkolene at the same spec for £6! He tried telling me the yam stuff has an additive that stops the seals from swelling!

I’m pretty sure that these bikes are designed to operate in the desert where Yam oil isn’t available so I took the £6 bottle

Fair question.
Already owned the trunk, and the Givis are in the financing. It’s what happens AFTER all this that I need to be careful of.

That, and she doesn’t notice visible parts or accessories. She notices credit card statements. :)

High Command and me have an agreement, I don’t go in her wardrobe and she doesn’t go in my garage.

A new bike is put at the back of the garage and covered up for a while until she has got used to seeing it there. If asked she’s told “ it’s that old project bike that I’ve had for ages but not bothered with”. Then gradually it gets moved towards the front of the garage and eventually uncovered with the statement “I’ve finally finished that old project”

What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.....

I’ve not had the bike long. It’s got 14k miles on it and I’ve started going over it for a close look. I’ve changed the engine and drive oils and decided to lube the levers next. I had noticed that the throttle cables were touching against the brake master cylinder reservoir and thought it strange that yam would have done that. So I dismantled them greased them up and put them back together properly. Now they don’t touch. Looks like they hadn’t been reassembled correctly last time they were done.
Silicon grease on pivot bolts
Lithium grease on cable runs
Engine oil in cables
Swing arm next.
