What is the normal operating temperature of the Tenere?

After a short ride about town the fan came on. I parked and shut down and the fan continued to run.
Temperature was 28 C or 82 F outside, and the bike's indicated temperature was 104 C or 220 F
Is this normal?
When I'm cruising at speed I see 75 to 85 C.

Sounds OK to me, mine generally runs at mid-70’s during normal running but warms up in stop-start traffic or town to around 105C then the fan comes on.
Ok thanks, just seemed a little hot.
I read about this and someone said to leave the key on until the fan stops???
Who does what?

Nope. I just turn the bike off. Manual says only if the temperature warning light comes on to leave the fan running with the engine off.
Ok, thanks for that info, I read the manual but had forgot about the fan's functions.
Thanks to all who chimed in and answered my questions.

IIRC the fan turns on at 105 C and shuts off at 100 C. I've done some hours long parades in temps up to 40 C and only once did the temp rise above 105 C and the fan ran continuously. A half liter of water splashed on the radiator brought the temp down below 105 and a minute later the parade was over.

I've noticed if underway that the bike's reported temp is always 100 - 120 deg F higher than ambient temp.

When it's 50 F, the bike will run around 165 F.
When it's 80 F, the bike will run around 190 F.
When it's 100 F, the bike will push over 200 F.

If you're idling (stopped), or crawling/ clutching much, it can't dump heat fast enough and the fan will come on intermittently.

Not sure if my results are typical.

I'm up in Ontario Canada and it was a warm day at 31 C high 80s for some of you.
On the highway temps between 75 C and 80 C
In traffic at slower speeds 105 C and the fan activates, and cools to < 100 C
Fahrenheit no longer in my brain
Thankfully

Yep - highway speeds temp stays right around 75C. In town temps creep up. Fan always comes on at 105C, shuts off at 100C.

At what highway speed ?

Mine at 120 km/h will vary between 77ºc to 80ºc, at 140 to 160 km/ will run at 83ºc to 85ºc...roughly

Nothing wrong with those temps, mine see's the same. Just ride it. The fan will come on around 104-105 and will shut off around 100.
