What I did to cure my Tenere 1200 problems

When I bought my Tenere there where problems like rough tick over, uneven running, restrictions when accelerating in 3rd gear whilst in T mode and CAM chain noises, this engine had only done 9000 miles, after 2 visits to different Yamaha Dealers it was discovered the CCU was misreading the Lambda Sensors so when disconnected this sorted out the rough tick over, Had the CCU reprogrammed and upgraded taking away the need for the Lambda Sensors, I then purchased from Italy 2 connectors which attached to the Lambda modules in the wiring and removed the Lambda Sensors from the exhaust system and replaced with Allen key bolts. Had a new Cam Chain Tensioner installed from a Yamaha Dealer still had a slight rattle. Finally took the Yamaha to an independent mechanic and discovered the timing to be one tooth out, this occurred when replacing the Cam Chain Tensioner by the dealer so this was rectified and new chain fitted, plus all tappets where re-gaped, you would not recognise this as the same bike, it pulls like a Trojan in any gear, runs much smoother, left in T Mode most of the time as quick enough, better fuel consumption and very little vibration and now runs like a parallel 1200 twin should,
I hope this helps should you have any problems with yours
Tony

Nice job Anthony, and thanks for sharing! One other adjustment many of us had made is to do a throttle body balance. Made a world of difference on my 2012 Gen 1, along with changing over to the 2014+ Gen 2 clutch basket.

Thanks for the info Anthony. I sit with similar issues on my 2010.
The Yamaha dealer I visited suggested, what they call, a MAJOR major service where they open it up and set all gaps to factory defaults.
Will make notes and ask them to have a look, on my machine, to what you've mentioned.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a 'CCU'? I know what a CCU is in medical terms but not familiar with motorcycles........

I thought that at first, then when he said he disconnected the CCU (ECU) from the lamda sensors, I thought the bike would not run with the ecu disconnected.... maybe just the sensors from the ecu not the ecu from the bike............... I'm giving myself a headache ::)
