How do you do driving for hours and do not get tired, I got tired after my drive and I do not know if I will be able to do 6 or 8 hours driving, how do you do it?
Miguel.
This time of year, the heat will drain you... stay hydrated, don’t sit still for the whole tank of gas (stand, tap your toes, shift your position) and ride to interesting places. Have fun!

I'm pretty happy overall, but if I had the ability to make any changes (or if Yamaha would revise things) I would like another 15-20hp and maybe 30 pounds less weight. What if they could build a triple like the FZ09 motor and make it 1100-1200cc. That would be incredible!

Sounds good but I doubt we would keep the bullet proof reliability. If they could give us 10hp and keep the weight where it is I would be happy,
I love mine I Haven't really needed more HP But I don't ride hard either.

Not sure if I will cast my vote or not yet? At this point I am in the 'not quite what I thought it would be' camp, however I only have just under 1000km on it so feel that is not enough time to truly judge it.

The negatives...the seat! Man that thing is awful, I did the flat seat mod but that just put me higher into the blast zone from the windscreen and have a lot of pain in my hips after riding.
No self cancelling turn signals, not a big deal, just a bit annoying.
The jerkiness of the throttle, again, not a big deal but combine that with the seat and it gets old real quick.
Stock wind deflectors for the hands, kind of small and in the cold they seem a bit useless.
The windscreen is horrible, I feel like a bobble head no matter if I adjust it up or down.
The grips are way too small for me, feels like I am wrapping my hand all the way around which causes me to tighten my grip instead of having a more relaxed grip.
Getting the side stand down, I keep hitting my foot on the pegs and then the stand goes back into the up position.
Would be nice to just turn off the ABS instead of having to do the centerstand thing where you start it in 2nd gear.

The positives...The mileage has been great so far, very impressed with that and once it breaks in I would think it would even improve more.
The controls, they seem to fit me very well, love the layout and feel of the switches, very simple to use and seem like they are logically placed.
The ride, good on twisties and seems like a good strong engine even though it is not fully broken in yet.
Dash layout is really nice, can't wait to rev it a little harder to see that tac go up more.
I do kind of like those hard bags, I know they will not help if she goes over but I like them as is.
Suspension, seem pretty good, I have not had a lot of time to test all of the different settings but I am pretty happy with it right out of the box.
Price, hard to beat the price for what you get.
Accessories, this is where I think that most of my beefs above will be solved. I am dropping my seat off tomorrow to get it reworked or if that does not work I will go to get a Terry's seat, Madstad should be arriving soon and I just got the BarkBusters. I put the factory wind deflectors on it too. Grip puppies will be ordered shortly and just got the T-Rex bars and skid plate. With the exception of the turn signals everything should be solved and for the price I paid for the bike I am still ahead then if I had gone with the Triumph. The 1200 Tiger was about $7,000 more and I figure I have spent about $2,000 to get the Tenere the way I want it so I am still $5,000 ahead and that is a lot of gas money.

I think I will do a follow up at the end of the year to give a real impression as my major issues should all be solved by then.

Sounds like you are a taller rider.
I'm only five eight and a bit and with the seat in the lower position I find that I still cannot flat foot the bike.
I've got a set of good lowering links which might be a solution, but this leads to other issues.
A lower seat is on my radar. Let me know if you want to part with your seat. I could perhaps modify the OEM stock seat to allow me to "touch down" comfortably.
I'm approaching 5,000 km and so far impressed with the bike. No chain to oil, plenty of torque, heated grips and cruise control, what's not to like?? No, it's not a race bike, but it is no slouch either as I can leave most Harleys and Ford F150 nutters in the dust.
When buying any bike car truck airplane or whatever, always have a look at the power to weight ratio and this will give you an idea of what performance to expect.
I don't off road but love to ride on gravel and the Tenere does it well. Don't worry as you will get used to the jumpy throttle in sport mode.
Conclusion::: no bike does it all, but the Super Tenere (Swiss Army Knife) does all things satisfactorily.

Hi to all!
Today I had the opportunity to do my fist drive for about 250Mi and I did enjoy it very much.
I like the way it handles and was a pleasure driving it.
Good performance, did not registered fuel consumption but I got the impression it was very good, next time I will get the mileage.
How do you do driving for hours and do not get tired, I got tired after my drive and I do not know if I will be able to do 6 or 8 hours driving, how do you do it?

Regads and have a great week!
Miguel.
For me, I have done a 600 mile day of mountain (PA Pocono Mts, not big Colorado Mts) twisty roads and still felt great at the end of the day. That was a lower speed day with a buddy trailing on a Harley Fat Boy. I normally do shorter 100 mile rides more local to me and am exhausted when I get back.

I think it all depends on how hard you are pushing the bike = how much of a workout the ride is. For me, I prefer riding hard for shorter rides (no fuel stops) than taking longer extended trips. Its about the ride and pushing the bike than cruising along and looking at scenery.

I got lucky and found an almost new 2013 model. It has only 2149 miles and I have put several thousand miles on it. I too hate the seat but about have it redone. I am amazed how well the bike corners which I didn't think it would do so well. Last week we went to Tennessee and rode the Dragon and other really twisty roads. I ran with a guy on a Ducati Supermoto which he tried to leave me .... he couldn't!

It's a sport bike dressed up as a dirt bike. For supposedly being so "big & under powered", she'll embarrass the heck out of a lot of bikes.

Well said.. agree. It becomes somewhat of a performer when in sport mode. I use the sport mode occasionally to remind myself what is like and how it behaves.
95% of the time I run in Touring mode, particularly around towns and Streets. I find it just too jumpy in the sport mode.

She won’t, she’ll embarrass someone that can’t ride a sport bike quickly. A well ridden sports bike will always beat a well ridden Super Tenere. (That’s presuming we’re talking road riding)

Having said that, I do agree that the Super Tenere goes surprisingly well for type of bike it is!

Agreed. But....and it's a HUGE but, it is a small percentage of sport bike riders that have had any training other than the basic MSF course. And an even smaller percentage of riders that can ride anywhere near the capabilities of their super steeds. I had trouble voting in this poll; this bike is NOTHING like I thought it would be. But, in this poll, that's a bad thing I guess. So, yes, she definitely surpasses my expectations.

Yes, another good video. But, my favorite part about the first one was....that it was TBDBITW flying around the 'Ring; at nearly the same speed.

The Nurburgring is a great place to ride or drive, but initially quite difficult to learn, so difficult to be smooth and quick. But, go there enough and put the laps in, it’s a very rewarding track to ride. I rode it regular in the 90s and 00s, but as it became more and more popular, fluid spills became more common so I went in the car instead, right up to 2017.

If you ever get the chance to go, do, it’s great!
