I have the same but have put my Givi lights in front of the bars so in a tip over they wouldn't damage the side panel

Is there a difference in protection between all the different brands of crash bars offered, or is it more about trying to find the best price?
There are a lot of differences. Number of mounting points, area of coverage, how self sacrificing they are. Ability to add upper bars. Skid plates they will fit with, etc.

Some bars are expensive and offer minimal protection, (Touratech). Some bars are relatively inexpensive and offer basic protection, but are pretty much one time use if they take a moderate hit, (Givi). Other bars offer Stainless steel, (AltRider and T-Rex Racing, IIRC), various levels of coverage, etc. Some companies offer great bars, but meh skid plates. Some great skid plates won't play well with all crash bars.

Buy what you like the looks of, what covers the areas you feel need to be covered and fits your budget.

Do some searches here on the forum and you'll find a lot of pros and cons to the different bars. For example, Givis are good for mostly street but tend to get bent in regular off-road outings.

Cool. Thank you for the information.

Definitely. Going to have to do quite a bit of research, getting into a whole different style of bike and I didn't realize just how deep this world went.
