Wax/sealant for matte paint?

I have the very popular matte gunmetal gray 2014 S-10. I am wondering what to wax or seal the matte gray paint on the gas tank with, if anything?

I have found regular car wash can be used to clean the paint but I am really not sure about polishing, correcting or sealing the paint. On my high gloss, normal paint vehicles, I like to deep cleab the paint with detailing clay and then follow up with standard carnuba paste wax or a sealant like Klasse sealant glaze because they give long lasting protection that looks great. Although I haven't tried it, I am 98% sure those standard products wont work on the matte paint my tank has.

What are our options for those of us with the matte paint?

My 2013 S10 is matte grey. I've always washed it with just plain water - no detergents or anything of the sort.

I don't think you would want to wax. It would make the matte finish turn shiny. Maybe a spray on wax where no rubbing is involved would be OK.

I use a roadside detailer with a microfiber cloth, the s10 has never been washed per say but wiped down alot, no issue with scratches or paint issues what so ever..

I've been wondering also about how to take care of the matte paint. The owner's manual says, don't wax, don't polish. The dealer says to just wash it, although he also said he has used the original Honda spray cleaner and polish.

For what it's worth my dealer said use the windscreen washer additive. Haven't tried it so not sure if he was winding me up.

Try a little hidden spot with Pledge furniture polish. ::024::
And let it dry see what happens!!
Absolutely. The lemon Pledge 'furniture spray' has a multitude of uses and works well to clean and preserve moto plastics, rubber, painted surfaces, windshields, seat covers, etc... It works great on the Tenere matte tank and just puts a very subtle shine on it; really just enriches the color more than shines. It would work for Tenere gloss tanks too. Just wipe on with a clean microfiber rag.

Sam's Club sells the stuff in 3-packs. Be sure to get the old school 'furniture spray' and not the 'multi surface cleaner'.

Just don't use it where there's a lot of bees or wasps. Don't ask....
