Must be the same bonehead politician that recently claimed that bicycing is harmful to the environment because of increased carbon dioxide emissions emitted from cyclinst. How do these people get elected? Give me a break!

As a resident of Washington state I'm getting fed up with bicycles getting more and more of the roads my car and motorcycle taxes pay for. Bicyclists around here ride like they own the world 5 mph down the middle of the road because they are afraid to get the tires on their $5000 mountain bike dirty on the shoulder. I say if they are going to use the road they should be taxed for doing so just as everyone else is.

I know we are dinosaurs down here on the Gulf coast. We still like John Wayne.

But sometimes the news out of both northern coasts sound like it's from another planet.

As for bicyclists taking up more of the road these days.......that's true even in my redneck rural spot. They haul their gear out here from the city and ride in packs. Colorful bunch. They love to ride on Sunday mornings, so I'm more tolerant. Not nice to be confrontational on the way to the Lord's house.

I don't mind the cyclists so much, down here they're pretty polite about their use of the roads. And they tend to be out when I am (Saturday and Sunday mornings) when there isn't a lot of other traffic so it's no big deal to get around them.

The article above, however, reads like something from The Onion. I'm speechless (rare) as to the quote from the representative - it's absolute lunacy on display - and this jackleg got elected to public office...unreal.

Bicycle road course, Test and then endorsement then Bicycle Tax..

Ride the line when a vehicle is coming up behind you, it will save your life.

I did road biking for years I learned how to hug that line like a tight rope walker in Florida.
