Doesn't look like something we need to be concerned with...

But Don, the sky is falling! o_O That it's a inner delam issue on a tire not even close to our size and limited to that very wide specific size is no reason not to duck and cover. ;)

Unless, of course, you ARE running an AVON COBRA CHROME tire in size - 240/50R16 with code - AT 6D 28 1418 -- 2119

Not everyone on this forum only rides a Super Tenere. A lot of us have more than one bike. And this tire fits a slew of different bikes from customs to the Honda VTX 1800. Just doing my due diligence in warning fellow riders.

Then put this in the "other bikes" section instead of the Super Tenere tech section and change the title to a warning specific to Triumph Rocket owners or for the ONE size tire involved in the recall. There is no reason to scream it from the roof tops in the Tenere tech section as if it was a major issue to worry about for the bulk of the riders here.

And just as an aside; Have you ever ridden a bike with a 240 profile tire? I have. I can tell you that you will notice tire problems very quickly in most cases. It's great to spread the word, but this tire runs on a tiny market segment of bikes.

My bad for putting a tire recall in the tire forum. Maybe the mods can move this.

Try to understand how the forum is laid out. It puts your posts where they have the greatest benefit to the members. This section is about tires, but follow it back. It's about tires specifically for the Super Tenere.

Tire/Wheel/Disc nested under Tech Discussion which is nested under Super Tenere which is nested under Forums.

It should go Forums - Other Bikes - WARNING Rocket III Rear Tire Recall ( 240/50R16) to have the best impact for potentially affected riders.

Fair enough. Do keep in mind that this tire fits a bunch of other bikes not just the Rocket III. 240/50R16 is a very common tire size for cruisers and custom bikes. There are dozens if not hundreds of different bikes that this tire size fits on.

Yes, there are others. I've ridden several of them, all big cruisers with limited rear suspension travel, (or no rear suspension travel!). Making it all the more obvious when the tire gets a de-lamination. 'Hundreds' might be a stretch. The big customs run mostly wider tires. My Big Dog Chopper ran a 250, for example. Several are running 300's now, or wider. It's gotten silly with that on big twins.

I would suggest to you that if you ran this size tire, you'd have been well aware of the issue long ago.

I don't have a problem with this thread being under Tires since Chris took Eric's suggestion and changed the title to make it clear this does not affect the Tenere.

Play on.

Do a google search yourself if you are concerned. I created this thread to help out guys like myself that have more than one bike in the garage. It’s a common tire size for many cruisers. I’m just trying to help prevent someone from crashing.
