I had several sets of 705 and 805 on my Wee - lots of punctures, but pretty good otherwise. Tried on S10 and had a big crack on new rear 705 couple of months ago.

If that happened to me, the cracking of the tires, I would be using a different tire brand next time. Steaks are too high. I have always had good luck with Dunlop. Others swear by Michelin. It’s like an oil thread it can get endless. In the end, we base these decisions from our experience. Clearly this was a bad experience.
I too noticed the steaks were too high when I was at the grocery store yesterday...;) I've been through 1.5 rear 705s without seeing anything like that happen. The first one was run at high speeds in high temperatures fully loaded, as well as a couple hundred miles poorly maintained dirt roads. It'll be interesting to learn the date code. Having said that, I found I'm not particularly fond of their handling characteristics (no grip issues though) so have moved on to the Anakee Adventures. I really wanted to like the 705s too.

Out of curiosity I went back and checked my maintenance records, and found that among the other tires I've used, I've installed eight rear Shinko 705's (150/70R17) and four front 705's (110/80R19) since I bought the bike in 2014. Never any issues on any of them with the lugs cracking. My experience with the front is that they will last for a long time, but when they start to cup, they go really fast.

I agree that they have a weird handling characteristic; they tend to fall into corners a lot faster than any other tire I've used. It was disconcerting for me until I got used to it.

definitely the latest date I've heard with an issue. Have to keep an eye on that not that I'll ever run 705s again they don't make sense compared to the 804/805 for myself.

Sorry for you my friend .
Must be a defective tire. I have try 705 last year and like them a lot! Still have the front one ( almost 10 000miles on it now) but the rear was gone at 5k miles. I made a trip last year and we where caught in Biblical rain storm (2days of riding) and a memorable hail storm . I never feel unsafe with those tires. They are doing fine in gravel road too. In my opinion for the price tag they are pretty good.

Personally not a fan of Stinkos but in any case a warranty claim is most likely going to be rejected. Right over the "/" of "M/C" is an impact bruise, with the cracks going both ways to the left of that. The other cracks point back at it.

Looks like an impact combined with low air pressure and torque (throttle or brake). My experience is that there will likely be sidewall pinch marks on the inside of the sidewall behind the top of the M.

Glad you replaced it when you did.

I'll check the inside of the tire.
I sent some pictures and information to the manufacturer. Just wanted them to be aware of the situation. If they have any explanations I'll post it here.

I used to run 705's on my Wee, went through 2 fronts, 3 rears. I really liked the tires, they were a very fun all around tire. No issues as reported by OP

The issue I did have with them was the rear tire went from brand new (8-9mm?) to 3mm in about 1500 miles of interstate to get out west. Amazingly, those 3mm lasted through the next 2500 miles of riding through Colorado and interstating it back, even had 1mm remaining. Did cause me a lot of mental panic with the rate the tire was wearing, the last thing I should have been worrying about.

Very fun tire for just bumming around, wouldn't run them on a heavy bike at interstate speeds for extended periods again.
