Vibration in handlebars on a 2017 S10

I know I have seen a lot of post on this. Quick question. Throttle bodies are synced by a Yamaha Tech. Using fuel medic (really good stuff) and that helped. Ties are balanced. All bolts are tight. I really like my bike. Has 26K miles on it. I am about to the end of my desire to try to find the problem. The vibration leaves my hands feeling like I have been using one of those weed walkers for a full day. Just has the feeling of numbness. I thought about a heavier bar End weight but trying to find any one that knows anything about how heavy the aftermarket weights are is almost impossible. Any suggestion? ANY resolution would be very much appreciated.

Does your bike have heated grips? If not, order some ProGrip 714's. I've used them successfully on many bikes over the years.

Looking at parts diagrams, it looks like bar end weights on Gen 2 bikes are large threaded pieces and the bars themselves must be threaded. If that's the case, you could try the old and often successful trick of filling the bars with steel or lead shot. Fill the bars up, and that will alter their mass and attenuate the buzzing. My Gen 1 bars are different and I don't have this option, unfortunately.

Have you had the bike for the entire 26k miles?
Yes I have had it from new. I have grip puppies now and I do have heated grips. It was smooth first 10k miles and have been struggling every since. I have been averaging 3-5 hundred miles a week for the last 6 months and the vibration has me ready to sell Love the bike otherwise.

Have you had the bike for the entire 26k miles?

What tires are you running? Even balanced tires of certain brands will vibrate. Also get the front end off the ground, pull the front wheel and rock your fork legs individually and check for play. Worn out fork bushings will create vibes at speed. My bike is at just over 6'000 miles and already has a worn right fork bushing.

I am on my second set of Continental Trail Attack 3’s. I run them at 32 PSI on the front all the time. I will say this tire has 13+ miles on the front tire. I reaplaced the back tire about 3K miles ago. I will check the front tire and see if I see wear. I ran a set of Mita’s E07s before these and they vibrated quite a bit. I took the E07’s off and they still had 1/2 of the life left which was hard to do. This bike does seem to be very sensitive to vibration. I will also check the shocks and see if there is any play in them. I have owned a lot of bikes but never had one where I am constantly fighting vibes in the handle bars or in the foot pegs. I digress...Thanks for the ideas. I will take a swing at this today.

Is it high frequency vibration? If so, then there is definitely an issue there. Quite simply, these bikes should not have high frequency vibes at all, they are a parallel twin which fires like a 90 degree V twin and it has balance shafts too. You should expect a mechanical feel but not a finger numbing buzz.

That was my thought as well The issue is what is the problem. I have put 26k miles on it. Getting weary with trying to figure it out.

I'd check every major nut and bolt. I'm watching this tread. I've seen quite a few loose motor mount bolts cause vibes back n the day.

Let me know if you find a way to solve it.. my 2 cents is that perhaps higher front tyre inflated will help? 35 psi I always inf at 35psi front and 43 psi rear.. was better last trip had it at 30psi..After full tank ride, I felt numb on my right hands, which never happen on S10.

Had a bit of a hand-numbing issue at first too. I used the helibar risers to get the bars up and back so that I could relax my arms and not be leaning forward putting pressure on my palms (which apparently was compressing a nerve?). How are the ergos for you? When seated and gripping the bars, is there a comfortable bend in your elbows and no pressure on your palms (or fingers...if you're strectching to reach the bars) so that your hands just rest comfortably on the grips? (Think about how you would sit and play a piano).

I rode today with the higher PSI on the tires. 32 front and 36 on back. I will try running them up even higher and see what happens. I do have ROX risers and they help a lot with regard to the ergo. I will suggest trying running Fuel Medic in your bike on every fill up. I talked to one of the regional reps from Yamaha and he told me that when the fuel injectors get clogged they will create a lot of vibrations. He was correct. Took several tanks before I noticed an improvement. I am thinking the problem I am having with my bike is tied to the tires. I have a new back tire, well relatively new, and my front tire has 13 or 14K on it. I am thinking the front tire has developed something that is causing the vibration. This latest vibration just started in the last 3K miles...since I put the new back tire on it. I may try changing the ties out and see if that corrects the problem.

I had the same problem with my Gen I. A flash made it super smooth. Contact AVC on this forum.

Is it an engine vibration or driveline vibration? As in do you get the vibration at a stop just revving the motor?

My bike had an annoying excessive vibration issue this year, ended up being the MAP sensor. You could try unplugging it and seeing if the vibration gets worse/better

I will have to look into this more. A MAP sensor or need to have the computer remapped. I live in Florida so I have to find someone that can check that for me. I did a search of AVC but did not see him anywhere. Thanks.

If it is something new, always go back to what you last did, and that appears to be the rear tire. Amazingly, stuff caused by the rear likes to show up as a front tire issue. Either way, the front with that many miles, is probably squared off, or cupped enough to be causing a vibration. New front, and maybe rear probably will fix your situation. I always ran my tires at 36F/42R unless I was in the dirt.

My Goldwing currently has vibration coming from front tire but it’s nowhere near as severe as what you describe, I have a new set of Dunlop Elite 4 tires mounted on spare rims but plan on putting a few thousand more miles on these before removing them. The pretty much worn out front tire is a Metzler 888 and I never liked the tire even when it was new and will most likely never buy another Metzler tire for my Goldwing, the rear was even worse so I took that tire off a long time ago.
However these type of issues can be caused by a lot of different things. Have you tried riding a different Tenere just for comparison ?
