I did a combination of about five of these threads. I am 6'5" so i did not want to lower anything. What I did was take the 7/8 inch rubber stoppers mention and referenced earlier and put them on top of the "front" 2 bumpers with a washer as support. I put three washers under the seat clip as shown in many threads. Just to remove any looseness I added a piece of felt under the hook tang as shown in many threads. Raised the front of the seat with no fuss.

I tried about 5 different combinations of things listed here and this worked best for me. Total cost about $3.00 and about 3 min per attempt.

I'm in the same situation you are. How did you attach the short bumpers to the bigger ones? Can you post some pics?

Raised the front. Re: Variation on the seat mod with pictures

Ok. I figured it out. To raise the front I took the cruiser bumpers and cut off the tail. I then took a 1" screw and screwed the small bumpers to the 2 larger bumpers in the front. To lengthen the latch, I had to add 4 size 7m washers. That raised everything up on the nose. I'm going to go for a ride today and see if that helps. I'm also going to remove the passenger seat to see if that aliceates the tail bone pressure. I'll let you know!

I saw the Seat Concepts site talks about having the seat flat with their cover and foam.

For those that have the Seat Concepts have you done the seat mode ????

LOVE THIS VIDEO ON SEAT MODE

Another variation of this mod? I read through all this thread, and I did not see this variation:

'16 ST, Non-ES. Me: 6'0", 33 in. inseam, 175 lbs.

Low Position, *No* 4 ea. rear seat bumpers, 2 ea. OE bumpers in front.

I did try the 4 ea. "low" bumpers in the mid-to-rear positions, and I found I wanted less "front tilt".

I did this variation to remove even more "front tilt", and now the seat is probably not level anymore, either.

Add these instructions:

Move OEM seat high / low bracket (plate?) to "low" position (if in "high" position).
Remove middle and rear bumpers. Do not replace with anything.
Fit the front seat back on, and lock in place. Push front / rear to determine how much the seat "rocks", front to rear.
Remove front seat, and tape some wedge-like object to the top of the seat "tongue", about as tall as the rocking motion. I used a piece of scrap plastic laying around. (Yes, use washers, or a rubber bumper, then tape in place, or glue in place, or drill holes, whatever).
Fit the seat back on and lock into place. Confirm the seat does not rock front-to-back too much for you. Repeat until it's good.
Done.

Now you have a bit more tilt removed.

I may have to make the front 2 ea. OE bumpers longer. Just 'cause the seat does not rock anymore, I'm thinking the front bumpers now don't touch / rest on anything (I'm thinking this, because of some other things I read in this thread). I'll look at this later, and write back.

Okay - so I watched this video and the seat mod seemed stupid easy (it was actually) so I had to try it.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OhyiuvwM87I&list=

I also used the high position as in the video.

The seat mod feels good but even with the half step rubbber grommet in the metal in the back of the seat it still wobbled up and down too much for me when I was not seated on bike. I know it compresses when you sit on it and works like it should, but too much up and down movement for my taste.

So I ended up trying one of the original large rubber pads in that space and it worked - but it was too tight a fit and it pushed one side of the front of my seat into the gas tank where it would rub on it excessively.

So having a band saw, super glue, and a can-do attitude I took one of my extra half step rubber pads and sliced it in half. Then I super glued it to the bottom of the one in the back bracket. Perfect fit now with no wobble - like before the mod. And all of the rubber pads rest on the plastic tray before you even sit on the bike.

Here's a photo in case I didn't make any sense:

Drilled out the seat stay in the lower spot to try the seat mod with the seat in the lower position - I have to say it was much more noticible (lees forward tilt) in the low position than in the high. I can get away with the low position and not feel really tucked because I only have 32" or so inseams.

May keep it this way for awhile to see how she feels on a longer ride.

Experimented today with the mod with seat in Low position.

Hard to see what's going on under there when it's in place but - with the seat in the low position, I'm not sure the smaller bumpers touch anything except in the rearmost position (if it's even necessary to replace all 4 rear bumpers or just the 2 in the rear). I think the seat sits on the moveable plastic seat adjuster on the bike - you can see where the round indentations on the seat tray and the plastic moveable seat adjuster on the bike marry up to each other. The longer OEM bumpers in the front make contact with bottom with the bike and the rear most smaller bumpers touch the aluminum seat "stay" as it is called. In between those points (after the mod) I think the plastic posts on the moveable seat tray on bike make contact with the bottom of the seat. I put the 2 smaller bumpers in the rear and left the middle ones off completely. Drilled the aluminum seat stay in the bottom and put one of the small bumers there also. Reduces up and down wobble when not on bike.

Anyone have similar/different thoughts or erxperience with this?

I do beleve the seat mod is more noticible in the low position versus the high - at least for me. Feels much flatter in low position.

I have the seat concepts seat and the seat bumper mod. The seat is better than stock but still not great. I would have rather saved my money and got a russel day long.

After a recent 4,500 mile Idaho trip I've decided to finally try improving the stock seat on my 2013 Tenere, read all 10 pages of this thread, the original poster has a great Low cost fix with excellent pictures ! My Tenere was delivered with the seat in the low position but after reading so many folks using the high position I thought maybe I should try that, I don't like the high position when stopped because it's a bit more reach to the ground but I was very surprised to find out it's a little more comfortable going down the road, after a day of riding with it in the high position I switched back to the low position and after an hour of that I switched back to the high position which I now highly prefer. In a couple weeks I might try switching the bumpers to help level the seat and see what happens.

Just picked up 4 of the small rubbers (one spare) that I ordered during the week, today. Will try this mod next week. I ride with the seat in the high position. My wrists and arse take a battering at the mo, so I'm hoping this will cure the problem. ::008::

Well I switched the two stock middle rubber bumpers to the new lower bumpers everyone has been recommending , yes it’s a very significant improvement ! I’ve only ridden about 45 miles after the switch but it seems to help quite a bit in both the high or low position but I bet it would help even more if the rear of the seat was another 1/4 inch lower. I ordered 3 bumpers but only installed 2, the seat seems to fit fine without drilling and installing the third bumper.

Saludos

My bike had the mod done when I bought it. I’m 6”3’ and all legs. I ride back on the seat to keep my knees tucked behind the fairings. If I move forward with my boys next to the tank, my knees are several inches out to the side in the fairing which is also uncomfortable . My tailbone is numb after about 60 miles into the ride. Frustrating, anyone else have this problem? Any advice?

Sounds like a Sargent seat would be perfect for you. It places you pretty far back and would be a lot more comfortable than stock over distances.

Is your seat in the high or low position? This seat mod was more to level out the stock one to keep from sliding into the tank...

I love my Air Hawk seat pad and it may help you, Thomas. The Air Hawk elevates my butt to straighten out my knees just a bit, removes any pressure at my tail bone and provides great ventilation between the 'boys' and my 'one way street'. LOL

It’s in the high position. I just removed both rear rubber pads and dropped the rear of the seat a bit more but have not ridden since.
