I’ve had a Hot Cams shim kit for nearly 10 yrs because going back and forth to a local dealer for shims is something I'd rather avoid. And with both an FJR and Super T to support, I love having it available (and I’ve loaned it out a few times to other local owners). However, this kit is known to have courser increments between shim sizes (vs OEM shims) so you may not find the exact one you want but I’ve made it work by using a combination of shims from the kit and those from valves being adjusted.
Btw, on the valve cover gasket, what worked for me recently was putting the rubber gasket on the head first (w/some RTV in key spots) and then installing the cover.
Having the right-side electronics tray swung out of the way helps and once the cover is past the large wiring loom on the right it drops right in.
Then you only need to ensure cover is seated correctly on the gasket all the way around.
