As ! stated the V-Strom 1000 is no longer being made. When I can go put a deposit down on it then it will start being made. It's simple manufacturing 101. As of right now this minute there is not one dealer in the US that is taking a deposit on one. Same as the Super Tenere. No dealers are taking deposits on a 2020 Super Tenere.

If you notice my original post I did not state that it would never be made again. Some comprehension skills are in order for some of the members;)
Sorry Chris, you're being a bit pedantic

It's the end of the line for well over half of the Suzuki models. V-Strom being one of them. They will still be building the 650 though.

This debate over the accuracy of the original post is a whole new twist on my favorite annual thread.

Been watching this for over 10 years now, but it took the Tenere guys to have a thread which heads in this direction.

Good entertainment.

The above statements would indicate that ballisticxchris will be a very successful politician. (If already not one) :);)

Just as I stated and already knew months ago, the V-Strom 1000 is no longer going to be made. I'm fortunate enough to have a good information source in the market and I'm very rarely wrong when it comes to making predictions. Not to mention living right down the block from Suzuki USA.

It is going to be replaced with the V-Strom 1050 and 1050XT. These are almost all brand new bikes from the ground up. Very few chassis parts are shared from the old model. I already knew about them around the time I said the old ones were out. Being and industry insider, I don't comment on the new models until they are announced.

You can pre order one as of yesterday:

You will notice it has the same powerplant as the old one but revised. This is going to be a nice bike for the V-Strom lovers. 1037cc short stroke is a good size. It has new cams, pistons and throttle bodies as well. I imagine to meet the EPA/emission requirements.

The motor is the same size as the 1000's, but it's now a 1050. An A for effort by the marketing dept after the bean counters shot down the 1200 idea! :D

I have known this from local industry insiders for years that Suzuki was gearing up to drastically cut the model lineup. I keep up with the big 4 weekly. Since Ricky Carmichael retired it's been all downhill for Suzuki. Suzuki made the announcement earlier today via through their 2020 lineup.

I am a bit late in coming to this particular party, but when I click on your link, the model range for 2020 comes up. Under Adventure bikes I see the pictures and variations for both the 650 Vstrom AND a 1050 Vstrom, yes, that’s correct, a 1050 Vstrom. Over here in U.K. it has always been billed as 1000 so maybe they are promoting it as a 1050 now, but I can find no trace that Suzuki are actually dropping it from the range. If they did, and that’s a big ”if”, you can be sure that Suzuki will want to have a presence in this very profitable sector. See the link below.

As Dirt Dad wrote, an entertaining thread.

Quoted above is Chris's original post and it's quite blunt. End of the line. Period. Full stop. It's why people called him out right away and the next day he started to qualify his statements and then there were some personal comments.

Observations:
1. A good reminder to everybody to not shoot too quick.
2. We all have done it at some point.
3. The rule still applies that you can argue with the content or argument but don't slam another member.

there is cruise control on the XT and Adventure versions. Cruise control was a hot button for me when I bought the Tenere

I owned an 02 V-Strom. Stupid quick. Much quicker than my Super T. The 02 Strom had nothing below 3300 RPM though. I really do not think Suzuki needed to add more power. I have never used all the power on the Tenere or the Strom......unless I was getting Stupid
