Well he could blame it all on his very reliable inside source that apparently didn’t have a clue.

i do like the new look but no mention of cruise control ? Around my area there Ain’t many Suzuki dealers
I have read the Suzuki U.K. website and there are 3 versions of the Vstrom 1050, and 2 of the versions definitely have cruise control as standard. I would imagine that US bikes will be equipped with CC too.

https://bikes.suzuki.co.uk/bikes/adventure/v-strom-1050xt/

This is what Suzuki have to say:

The cruise control system maintains a set speed without the rider having to operate the throttle twist grip, a helpful feature for riding on motorways or for long distance traveling, helping reduce rider fatigue. Cruising speed can be set from approximately 30mph to 100mph with fourth gear or above selected. A switch on the right switch cube can be pressed to put cruise control into standby, and the selector switch (up/down) on the left switch cube allows the rider to adjust the speed.

The motor is the same size as the 1000's, but it's now a 1050. An A for effort by the marketing dept after the bean counters shot down the 1200 idea! :D
Might have sumthin ta do with Honda bumping the Africa Twin to an 1100

Same reason the German cars used to relate the model number to the engine size, but decided to keep increasing the numbers with smaller motors.

At least bikes aren't just pulling numbers out of their ass, yet

At least the powerplant is proven. This is actually a whole new bike. The V-strom 1000 is dead but the new 1050XT is alive and well. Too bad the redesigned duck bill is uglier than the previous model.

Yeah, at least Honda actually increased the engine size. Suzuki's biggest shortcoming is how it refuses to spend money updating its models. For example, the DR650 and DRZ400 were sell loads more if they were upgraded with FI and made to pass the latest emissions requirements so they could be sold in Europe and Japan. But Suzuki keeps churning them out unchanged.

Since you brought it up....serious question, 'cuz I don't know/understand....what is the point/purpose of the beak(s). Surely it's not a fashion statement. The Tenere doesn't have one (thankfully) and I haven't found myself needing one.

The original idea is straight out of the dirt bikes - To keep mud from jamming up under the fender and locking the front wheel. In gumbo mud it can happen to the Tenere and down you go.

On the Strom it's pure styling because they still have the low fender. Blame BMW for the styling trend.

I too never understood the beak. No reason at all to have it.

Some like em some don't. It's like the Honda Goldwing, when it first appeared in 1974 it was intended as a sport bike, but in 1980 Honda killed the Goldwing and never built it again much to disappointment of the riders who like them naked and fast.

The 1980 Goldwing came with a bigger engine, saddlebags, and fairing. Some like the change others...not so much.
Then in 1983 Honda did away with the Goldwing, forever, never to build it again.

The 1983 Goldwing had a larger engine (1200) and improves luggage, but sadly Honda did away with the line completely in 1984.

The 1984 Goldwing had a larger engine (again) and larger luggage capacity....lots of folks thought they should have kept the 1200 engine but they increased the power plant to 1500 cc. Some liked it...some not. Honda did away with the Goldwing forever in 2001...

The 2001 GL lost some luggage room and had a much more powerful engine. But Honda ended production forever in 2018.

The 2018 Wing has lost weight increased sportiness. I kind of like them....I hope they don't kill the line.

I guess that whoever decided to put the cruise control switch on the right hand side has never ridden a bike with cruise! Trying to set cruise at a speed I wanted on an Aprilia Caponord 1200 was frustrating to say the least. Truimph soon realised that the cruise switch had to be swapped to the left.

I think the Strom is the first Suzuki ever to have the cruise option

They'll learn...

That's what I initially figured, but with a traditional fender also installed....it seemed pointless. One more thing to break.
