Hi, i'm looking for choice for upper crash bar that i can put it together with OEM crash bar, since is given with the bike.
Dealer, told me that if you drop this bike on the left side most likely you going to hit the fan going to break and damage the radiator easily.
Any choice, i don't like it to look too bulky. I was thinking DS bike protection, but no so sure any recommendation.? Thank you again.

If you put your location in your profile, you'll get better responses to your questions.

Currently there are a couple of bolt on options. DS Motorcycle Guards offers a nice bolt on set to add upper side protection. I think there may be one other still on the market, but don't recall what. Rumbux used to sell an add on bar for the OEM bars, but they are out of business.

Will the DS upper bars fit with the Altrider Lower Bars ?
You would have to ask DS. They are made for the OEM bars.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Do not get the DS bike protection bars.. unfortunately, I simply could not install them.. one end clamps on to the OEM bars but the other end has just a brace with a flimsy bolt which I couldnt even figure out where to attach too, and had I been able to I think the protection would be negligible. no instructions, and delivery took ages..

I think the GIVI crash bars are the better option, I talked to a guy in a parking lot who had them on his bike, along with the OEMs.. they looked sturdy, they bolt onto the frame and are in fact not too pricy.. $220 on Amazon.. heres some pics i took.. i dont have them yet on my bike but i plan to do it soon

My wife has the DS upper guards on the OEM lowers. They are...OK. She’s dropped the bike twice, both times on the left side. The second time, the upper bars shifted on their mount enough to touch the fairing. No damage, but it’s enough to make me want to replace them. Since Rumbux is no longer being made (that’s what I have on mine) we will probably just replace the whole setup with T Rex bars.

Hello, can you put the Givi crash bars with the OEM yamaha??
It’s plug & play or you need something to put in your bike.
I’m thinking about put in my bike (I have OEM crash bars)
Sorry for my English... I’m from Barcelona.

Hello all,
This was my solution to marry the OE bars with the GIVI uppers.
I cut the front mount bar (the one with the radiator support) off the GIVIs. I used a length of that tubing to weld a strut between the two sets. The welding was done with everything mounted on the bike. No fitting and refitting.
It's probably not the best way to do it but it was the quickest and that's what I needed since I left the work too close to the trip.
Here are some pics for reference.
In all, the work was pretty easy.
If I ever need to pull them for any reason, I'll try to remember to post back here about that experience.
Cheers

I literally fitted everything loose and then tightened up when I was happy with the fit. They fit. I could have lightly indented the upper hoop to clear the givi but in over 12000 miles I have not needed anything.
