So, it's started then. I did not expect a paint job this early. Good for him though ... like to see the custom approach. :)

If i would be living back in ohio where my buddy who paints, and free ppg paint come from, then maybe yes. Living here in Seattle, I just don't have the connections to go with the painting. NOW, I will be doing some sort of vinyl graphic, minimal, just to add some damn color to the bike. Like a few others, I don't care for the Red Super Tenere Decal on the Raven and may be ordering one of these Yellow ones to replace it.

This S10 is from a guy in South Africa. I spoke to him earlier tonight about the colour scheme and he said that he iss a lover of the yellow colour. The paw on his helmet represents the Wilddog Adventure Riding forum. You shall also see a small sticker with a paw on my S10's screen which indicates that I am also a member of that South African based forum ;)

I wonder if our US versions that have a somewhat textured matte finish will even be candidates for painting? Maybe vinyl graphics will not even stick well to these? We will have to see I guess.

Paint sticks better, not worse, to textured surfaces. In either case, surface preparation is the key. Anything that is going to get paint has to get prepped properly. I so no reason why the shrouds should be any easier or harder to get paint to stick than the glossy painted surfaces, which would also need to be sanded and prepped to properly take good, long term paint. But then, I'm no paint pro and am sure open to a pros comments.

When painting plastic on modern bikes, one must add a flex agent when mixing the paint. Beleive me it helps. Then like chad mentioned, you must scuff/sand the surfaces, wipe dust off, apply heavy duty primer, sealer then a few coats of base layers of color, a few coats of candy color layers, then as many clear coats you prefer. When we did this bike, we did this proceedure. After primer and sealer we went 3 coats base, 3 coats candy color, then 3-5 coats clear depending on location of parts.
