Only asking because after a lot of thought I bought this carbon “sports” helmet instead of modular or a more traditional Adventure helmet.
Never understood the need for a adventure lid, surely it generates more noise than necessary with its cap and makes it heavier, a big disadvantage.
My previous lid was a Caberg Duke flip up but can’t actually remember using it in the up position so having a helmet weighing more than it needed seemed silly hence my choice of this Scorpion carbon exo1400. The weight is so noticeable. Yet to use it on a long ride but hoping it’ll be a very comfortable helmet

I use the Arai Corsair. Fantastic helmet, with a lot of venting that actually works. I don't "adventure" ride. (whatever that entails) I ride highway, city, and back country roads in the Texas summer heat. Not a cheap helmet, but worth it to me.

I wear a Shoei Neotec 2, I tutor and being able to flip the front up saves having take the lid off when debriefing. I like the look of adventure style lids and wore one when I used to ride a lot of off road, the large chin bar allows loads of air in so you don't over heat.

I have a Nolan N100-5. I don't use it in the up position while riding, except to shove food in my face on the interstate. But I use the flip-up quite a bit when stationary or off the bike. I find it quite convenient.

My last helmet was a full face Shoei that was so embarrassingly old that going to the new Nolan was probably a weight savings. :)

Scorpion modular. Not an ADV type. I don't need a big, wind catching visor as I'm never fending off branches or roost. I've gone back and forth, but I like some of the newer modular designs.scorpion_exo-920_satellite_matte_white_black_modular_helmet.png

I like the Arai Signet-X that fits a long head real nice with no head pain. Also considered the XD4. The modular sounded like a good idea, but I got the Neotec, and it was a piece of crap, unusable waste of money as it was like 20lb piece of lead on top of the head, or at least felt that way. I wore that thing for 3 days and that was well enough of that thing.

I have these two. Previously owned Arai helmets and am still a big fan, a good friend and fellow motorcyclist recommended X-Lite, so I gave it a try. Cannot fault it, it’s a superb helmet, in every way. The quality is outstanding. I use this for day to day riding.

For touring, I tried and prefer a flip up helmet. Cooler in town, easier to talk to mates and others, without having to remove the helmet constantly. However, the HJC is awful, never again! Noisy, rain gets inside the visor far too easy, heavy, wind whistles in the visor, sun visor doesn’t retract without an extra push. This season, once the shops open, a new flip up is getting got! Probably an X-Lite.

Schuberth C3 Pro. I believe this colorway is called Observer. Best helmet I've ever owned. Quiet, and comfortable. Might could use a touch more ventilation though. Went with a modular since I wear glasses. Stupid expensive, but I agree full with @Sierra1 's comment above. Plus I got it on clearance!

Also looking into one of these for winter months... https://shop.ski-doo.com/us/en/447468-bv2s-electric-se-helmet-dot-.html to avoid this...

I've got quite a collection of helmets. My favorite is a Schuberth C3. I also have an Arai XD4, an Arai Classic V, A Shoei RF 1100, a Shoei Multitech, a Bell Moto 3 and a few HJCs for ATV riding and snowmobiling. The C3 is hands down the best helmet I have ever used. I wear glasses so the flip up feature is nice.

I have a couple of mates who have C3s and both really rate them. Quite a few reviews I’ve read/watched, rate them above the newer C4.

Some of the other high end helmets like Arai and Schuberth just don't fit my head very well.

I wear a Shoei Neotech 2, Shoei Hornet, Shoei VFX-EVO, and my good old standby Shoei Qwest. The Quest and Hornet are about ready for the dumpster as they are well past expired.

Just before my injury I bought the VFX-EVO. This is the very most comfortable helmet I have ever slipped over my head. When I took an off road class a few years back it only came off my head once for lunch in a 10 hour day.

The new Shoei Hornet X2 has an odd fit that requires one size thinner cheek pads for a good fit. The original Hornet had a much better fit.

For all day comfort when on road traveling the Neotch 2 is very stable and comfortable. Its only downfall is in the heat. When the temps are over 100 degrees it gets hot. Ventilation is pretty poor. A lot of it has to do with the windscreen on my Super Tenere. I'm still getting used to having so much wind protection.

The Schuberth C3 is an excellent helmet. I agree with Dons1911, it could use more airflow. Another nice feature is the replaceable liner and other interior pads. I got my C3 a few years ago on clearance for $350USD.

I have a Bell SRT Modular. I like it quite a lot, especially equipped with the Pro-Tint transitions visor. My other is a Shoei Neotec 1. Probably about due to be retired.

When I ride my S10 I wear a SHOEI X2 Hornet. I have always been pretty loyal to SHOEI as through all my years riding dirt and street their helmets always
best fit the shape of my melon.
The visor is never an issue for me even at highway speeds as it is very nicely vented with plenty of louvers to prevent drag and whistling.
A visor is also obviously quite useful during rides real early in the morning as the sun rises as well as much later in the day when the sun starts to set.
If I want to go visor-less the visor is very easily removed with two quick-disconnect screws (just using a coin) and a snap tab on top.
The face-shield is also very easily removed with no tools needed so I can use my goggles when I venture off the slab.
The X2’s ventilation is excellent and the lid is relatively quiet as well. The weight is about average.
Two of the most important features of the X2 are that it is both DOT approved and SNELL rated
(very few helmets are both DOT/SNELL) and since it is still made in Japan the construction and quality is top notch.
