Hey all I'm starting to plan for my Colorado/Utah trip coming up. I will be using my Garmin Montana and right now I have Basecamp loaded onto my Macbook Pro. I'm not sure I want to bring my Macbook on the trip and thinking of possibly picking up a netbook. Something that I dont mind getting banged up a little. If you are bringing computers with you for last minute changes to your routes/tracks, what are you using? Id be also interested if you are using an alternate program to base camp. Thanks.

iPad oriPad mini. Put it in a rugged case. Useful for loads of other stuff. Compact. Or if you prefer, Amazon Kindle.

No Basecamp on iPad. Netbooks are on the way out, too underpowered to be useful for much... Ultrabooks are what's hot, but they are expensive. But for you, something to chuck in a topbox to do email or occasional Basecamp, a netbook would be fine and I'm sure dirt cheap either used on ebay, or new (if you can still find them new). Just don't expect to do much photo processing (for example) on it.

I really want an 11" MacBook Air

I have one. Love it. I take it with me in the bike. Got a good case for it. It's not much bigger than an iPad but a full computer. Highly recommended. MacRem

Two other tips here. I have used a netbook for two years and it works very well. More important though, the mapping tools on the Hadley davidson site are very good, and you can download the maps to Garmin GPS devices directly. Have used it with my Zumo.
by the way, they do not check for.HD. ownership >:D

That'll do it then. Look on ebay for deals. Netbooks are being orphaned out in the pc market, so deals are to be had.
