I didn't look at this as an oil thread. Newer Tenere rider....experimenting....gets to wondering....decides to ask. Since I'm a sissy, my bike is a pavement princess, and she is ALWAYS in "S". My wrist has been re-flashed, so, I don't have any issues or desires to change anything. She's perfect....to ME. If she ends up in "T", I will kill the engine at the very first stop. I like Eric's term of "laggy"; describes it perfectly. Forgot, mine's a '17 ES stocker.

I have a stock ECU and i ride in S mode all the time on or off road. I always thought even the S mode on my bike was sluggish. May just be my bike or the other bikes i have are really snappy.

I just got the bike, i think Touring +TCS 1 is the lazy mode which i will always use, but if i feel like to getting a little naughty, couple wheelies, race with my friend's GS, will definitely goes for Sport +TCS2 or TCS off.

Minha moto apresentou aos 16500km problema com o piloto automático!! Super tenere 1200 -2018. O problema consiste em falha na ativação do sensor, não sei bem. Tentar enviar um vídeo para algum dos colegas ajudar. Obrigado

The Anthony ECU flash for me I just did my second one. Besides smoother acceleration and T mode being stronger the BIGGEST improvement is taming the hard engine breaking and lowering the engine running temperature.

I use both depending on riding conditions. But mostly touring mode on the highway. I have the OEM ECU and my bike fuels perfectly. The engine braking in sport mode is phenomenal. You can carve a canyon up and down in sport mode with hardly ever touching the brakes. Yamaha did it right with these modes.

Both of them are really usable. For instance in a deep sand wash you stick it in touring/TC2 and just twist and go. Simply pull in the clutch for slowing. For slippery rocks I go touring/TC1 and let the clutch and knobby's do their thing. For super deep sand dunes I'm not sure. Never tried but would probably run it in sport mode/TC off with zero clutch.

For pavement with sharp corners and decreasing radius turns, sport mode/TC1 and let the engine braking do the work. I'm running big block knobby's so no dragging the pegs for me.

I ride in S mode most of the time.
Only use T mode on really rough/bumpy surfaces - be it tarmac, dirt or gravel.

1st Gen stock ECU w/ my '12 model. I rode the first few thousand miles in T mode to get used to the bike, from then on I've spent most of my time in S mode. I typically now only go to T if riding on wet roads or off pavement (I'm still a newbie to dirt).

I'd like to understand this better. You must know that you don't have to close the throttle all the way?
