Considering electronics- my Shoei Neotec 2 has a nice place to mount a Sena SRL. It talks to my android phone. And lets me talk on the phone. Also want to add a nice dedicated GPS, thinking Garmin Zumo. Which can control my smart phone (I guess). And (I think) control volume and music selections. Will these three things play nice? I tend to be a little tech challenged, but I'm eager to learn to use new toys. Have not yet purchased the electronics, only the helmet.

Am I in the ballpark on what is possible? Lot of bucks, to not have it work well.

It's all about how you pair it. You can pair the phone and the GSP to the Sena. Or, you can pair the phone to the GPS and the GPS to the Sena. Depends on which GPS you choose and what it supports. The Zumo units no longer do XM, but you can perhaps control music from your phone, (pandora or??), but will be burning data. Read thru the GPS specifications on the unit you want to make sure you understand what's possible.

I have the Sena SRL in a Neotec2 , and an Android phone and a Zumo 395.
The Zumo is paired to 2 TPMS sensors and my phone and my SRL. My SRL is also paired to my brides Sena smh10.
I can use voice commands to make phone calls, select music from MP3 stored on Zumo, and FM radio.
Phone calls take precedent to communications, music and GPS commands.
Volume is adjusted by physically pressing the + or - buttons on the SRL.
Everything works most of the time, sometimes I loose the voice command for the MP3, sometimes GPS commands cancel the pairing to the Smh10, and incoming texts and emails trigger a notice to select phone for music instead of MP3.
At first I had all the features of the Zumo turned on, curves, red light cameras, speed cameras, school zones, animal crossings, etc the associated warning tones and it was just too distracting.

Thanks, sounds like I am on the right track. Might need help when it comes to pairing. No XM? Crap, one of the things that attracted me to the Zumo. But WTH, I use Pandora in the truck, sometimes for many hours. Also, wondering if the bigger Zumo unit is worth the extra bucks.

Appreciate the advice.

Zumo 395 is now obsolete, replaced by 396. It does have new features such as wifi but no longer has TPMS which would be a deal breaker for me. The 595 still has TPMS along with the bigger screen, and can be mounted portrait as well as landscape.

I think you will find that you should pair your Sena to your Zumo and pair your Zumo to your phone will work best (no direct pairing of the Sena to the phone).
Incoming calls should show up on your GPS screen, music via Pandora, Amazon or even MP3 all show on your Zumo and can be controlled from screen commands. If you go to Youtube before you purchase your Zumo there are some good instructional videos by Richard Battles from RKA that should help you decide which GPS and how to set up your Bluetooth links. -JEP-

Yes they will, but they didn't always so if you're hunting for reviews up until about 2016 the firmware on the Sena side didn't play nicely with the phone + zumo at the same time.

I had the 665LM and sold it because I was so mad about that and then a month later after waiting for months asking them to fix it they finally added it. I was mostly angry because I really liked the 665LM's XM radio and weather for areas without cell phone coverage. And now Garmin doesn't make a unit that supports that anymore so I'm double kicking myself for getting rid of it. I've had a pretty poor opinion of Sena ever since in that they keep reselling the same 20S evo in different forms.

The Neotec II's SRL unit... (which I went ahead and bought for my Neotec II) has no more or less feature than the 10u in the GT-Air or the 20s evo. This is where I think the competition is really whooping the pants off Sena, that and Sena's terrible customer support. They blamed Garmin for that problem for months, then quietly released a patch.
