No I did not, and I really don't think I'm ever going to.
It run's fine in both "S" and "T" mode.

So far the majority (slightly) have not flashed.
Be interesting to have a poll for riders who have flashed their ECUs who wished they had not. But that’s another thread.:)
Keep the votes coming!

Well, in that area YES.
But I have bought OEM crashbar, centerstand, sump guard and low seat.
and SW motech alu- side cases.
And a big red bicycle bell:), but that's it

A little later...
Åh, and spend a lot of time adjusting the suspension, that I can adjust different front and back;), because it is not a ES model:cool:

Why not buy the OEM side cases too?

Flashed my previous '12 twice (early & much later version) with Anthony, made a world of difference with the machine.

Debated on my '18 as it ran pretty well stock. When my local shop (Two Wheel DynoWorks) in Kirkland started their Covid sale, it was a no-brainer to take advantage of it. The '18 is now a much better running machine because of it. Highly recommended!

I got a ‘13, the flash did a great positive difference to the power delivery (done by Anthony). I got to ride my friends’ unflashed ‘16 and the bike felt much better than mine did before flash. I think Yamaha corrected some issues on later versions.

Well. . . . that could explain a lot. I've never ridden a Gen 1. Mine's a '17. A perectly wonderful '17. :D

I may be wrong, many people might disagree with me, but, I think that the majority of people who have their ECUs flashed either ride Gen 1, (pre 2014 bikes), or they are bikes sold in the USA and maybe Canada where there are stricter emission controls. I am happy to be proved wrong on this and I am sure lots of riders will let me know. ;)

That's what I was starting to think, that the fueling was smoother on the new (Gen 2) bikes. But, Ronzo has an '18, and he said his is much improved after the flash. I think it's a person to person thing, whether the bike needs one or not.

Yamaha removed some of the restrictions in the lower gears with the Gen 2 models. I've never ridden a Gen 1, but I can say whatever Yamaha did for the Gen 2 (I have a 2015) did not result in a smooth on-off-on throttle transition, maybe made it worse, in the lower gears. A reflash has completely resolved that problem. I wasn't looking for more power or derestriction, just smoother throttle and better drivability. I suppose it's possible that Yamaha has continued to refine the mapping through the Gen 2 model years?

The jerky throttle is definitely worse on my 2018 than it was on the 2013, but it averages about 8 mpg better so that makes it a little easier to overlook. Powerwise they both seem about the same to me, however the 2018 is much smoother. They both choke off way to easily, I blame that on the jerky throttle and the Seriously messed up Yamaha gearing.

I think many people who have never experienced the improvements that can be had from a flash just continue to ride their stock bikes thinking that’s what they are supposed to be like. But once you’ve had a bike flashed it’s really annoying to then ride a bike that hasn’t been flashed as the fuelling problems stick out like a sore thumb

Agree, and the memories how smooth a properly carbureted engine can be fading away or perhaps in an increasing numbers, never experienced, our standard for acceptable drivability has declined.
