Also I noticed rear end shaking on the roadsmart 3s above 65mph and worse at highwind. Ive gotten use to it but will go to something else since the rear has another 2k miles left in it. I looked up to see if others had the same issue on google and yup st1300 owners had the same issue.

If I was riding road only, the Pilot Road 5 Trails would be one of my choices.

Though, I personally had great success with the Anakee 3 rear, which lasted well and handled amazing, even leaned way over and putting power into it. It would take a lot to convince me to run a different tire for long road biased riding (even with a little bit of gravel road added).

YMMV.

And honestly you can't go wrong with that tire. The dual compound tread is a real winner. I can only imagine how good of a road tire it is going to be. I am currently running the Michelin Anakee Wilds on my bike and the road handling is amazing on these. It's just the howling noise that can be annoying.

One of the reason I dont want to use offroad tires at all.

I hear you there!! I'm out of the saddle for some months ahead due to injuries. I am considering going with street tread myself on this bike once I burn through the noisy knobby's. I'm going back to basics and use my Beta for dual sport, Super Tenere for the street, and thinking of purchasing a small 125 2T or 250 4T for dedicated dirt bike.

I know you're going to have to be careful on at least the back tire. There's not much clearance between the tire, the caliper brace thingy.

What problem are you trying to solve?
What's the performance improvement you're looking to gain?

whenever I replace my tires, I upsize them if there is scope for more performance.

Not sure how you'll get more performance by trying to fit a tire that's larger. Depending on rim size (and resulting tire fit) you're likely to get slower transitions and require more steering inputs. :)

more grip ? & fatty looks.if they are not a good fit, I will stick with stock size.

any suggestions and comments on Michelin Anakee 3, I have them on my BMW GS and they are very good on corners. I dont go off-road, pure on-road all year around.

Achilles makes a fantastic 175/55 x 17 radial tire that fits beautifully!! I can confirm fit and for 50 bucks the price is hard to beat for a name brand tire that outperforms anything in it's class.

link shows the car tire. is that right? any pictures of the fitment from your bike?
Yes it is a car tire. And yes it fits. All the mile crunchers and track riders on this forum run this tire. With a slight pressure adjustment it's a great track day tire. It's V rated for 149mph.

Here it is mounted and ready to go!!

The only comment I can make is to remember the TCS compares front and rear wheel speed to determine if the TCS needs to be activated.
If you make a change of tire size it will affect the front to rear ratio and at some point you may start to get TCS activation because of this. I can't say how big a difference will cause it to start, but it is something to think about when considering a change in tire size front or rear.
I would look up tire circumferences first and make a few calculations to see if the change you are planning will change the ratio very much. You can always switch to TCS-2 if it acts up or turn it off completely to bypass this issue if it becomes a problem.

All tires are different even though they might have the same size stamped on them. So there is for sure a good buffer put into the programming by Yamaha. What % change is needed for the issue to start is hard to say without being able to read the code.

There is not a lot of room under the front fender so check diameter to make sure you have room and don't get tire rub on the fender.

Anakee 3s work well, the bikes are or course similar in weight. Some folks done like them due to noise. The New Pilot Trail seems to be very popular and maybe worth checking out.

thanks @ballisticexchris for posting the pictures. Sorry I am not thinking on going that route. just to upsize if possible otherwise stick with OEM size.

if 175 can fit in rear of S10, then definitely it can take 170/60R17.
