Is the photo of the memorial for Mosquito crews?

It is certainly a Mosquito modelled, but the board shows such a large number of squadrons being based at the abandoned air base and of so many nations so they must have had all sorts of aircraft there. I have attached the list of lost aircrew so you can see the variety of nations that served there.19.jpg20.JPG21.JPG23.JPG

Nice pictures. Are the boats parked for the off season? Wondering how the boats next to the wall could get out when surrounded by other boats?
Most of them have people living in them all year round, they are not always the same boats though, some seem to stay forever others change occasionally. During 2012, the canal authority made every single residential boat leave for security purposes whilst the Olympic games were on, then they let them all come back afterwards. This was at the same time they put anti-aircraft missiles on the roof of a nearby block of flats not realising that the man living directly under them was a newspaper reporter who got a free article out of it.

As for getting a barge out from another tied against it, I assume they just arrange it with each other. I imagine it's quite a friendly community.

Went on a trip 2012 on opening night Olympics on a Clipper Ship up the Thames turned around at Tower Bridge which was lit up all posh took in the Opening Ceremony Fireworks on the way. Seeing London from the river gives you a different view of it.

I've always wanted to take a trip on the Thames, not done that yet, maybe one of the TFL river boats or the DUKW tour. I got taken onto a ship which was involved in placing rocks on top of either Rotherhithe or Blackwall Tunnel to protect it years ago, because whoever was running it that day wanted to know about local enduro tracks so I was dragged along. We were transported in a small open boat (don't jump in till it's coming up they said!) which disappeared as soon as it dropped us aboard (to go and have his breakfast apparently) and we were stuck on there for two hours before we could get back to work.

I believe the DUKW tour is no longer on. I did that with my dad, obviously got the " haven't been in one of these since 1945 memoirs " it was great though.
