Tire Shoot out

This is very well done and Kyle really put's tires to the test. He has big balls to test some of the smooth tires and show how crappy and unsafe they are in the dirt. As well as blazing paved corners on big knobby's. The A41's are downright spooky on paved corners!!

While I appreciate the effort involved with this exhaustive tire comparison, in the end it's all too subjective to rule one over the other. None of us ride exactly like Kyle and we each have individual expectations of what a tire should feel like or what we are feeling while riding. I love the Shinko 804/05 series as they're relatively inexpensive, quiet and durable. Adding to that, I think road/gravel handling is predictable and stable. Difficult to say that for any of the other knobby-type tires. Right now, I'm sportin' the Missions and really enjoy where a compromise tire can take me...

How do you like the front I'm about to swap on a front mission and run out the rest of some 805s I have laying around, I was questioning myself whether I made I mistake not ordering a tkc80 but I wanted to see how the mission did.

The Mission front has been great and seems to work well in most conditions other than deep sand. Kyle mentions the Dunlops have one of the hardest rubber compounds but I have no trouble leaning them to the edge and grinding a peg. I haven't been in much rain with these tires but some have reported they lack in wet road situations. YMMV.

My experience with the TKCs was not a happy one as the rear was dun at 2K miles and the front at 3. They handled great offroad but for 3 bills, I need more than that.

I'm thinking... if the Mission rear is a true 10K mile tire, match it with a 804 front for an offroad focused combination that can go the distance.

Before the S 10, I rode a V Strom 650 shod with Heindau K 60 scout. In the test, they came out dead last in a few categories however, I found these tires to be incredible for cornering… on ramp/offramp. Not to mention, super high mileage, 30,000 km on the rear alone. At the Dragon’s tale, a buddy behind me said my saddlebags were within a few inches of scraping the pavement. Looking forward to trying some better rated tires like the Dunlops.
