Sorry:eek: my bad...
I just checked my "service" document...and it was around 14000km I got from the OE Battlewing.
And almost only backcountry roads, lots of braking and acceleration (but nice and easy:cool:)

I'm amazed at how many miles some of the guys are squeezing out of a set of the OEM Battlewings. Mine were well worn and squared off at 3,100 miles. The front's were almost down to the wear bars. Any tire that can go over 3,000 miles is a winner to me.

Off with the old and on with the new. OEM's ready for the trash can:

When I look for my next set of tires, I'm going to put more effort into my search for the BWs. 'Cuz, the BWs did fine on my pavement princess. Especially when you factor in the lower cost.

Sounds like you're riding the same way I was. The biggest factor that I found was the lightness of the rear half of the bike. I learned to use just the front lever for most of my braking; ya' still get enough rear brake application. And, let the rpms drop a little lower before down shifting. She rides totally different than anything that I've had. Must be why she's my favorite. Once I made the braking/shifting changes, I was able to get to 7.5k-ish miles. If I had a fresh set, I would guess for an additional 2-3k miles. I don't think I've ever got over 10k mi. And, MonkeyBut's 14k mi, would be impossible for me.

Their web page is a bit funky so Ill do the direct links. I purchased my last set here, they ship like revzilla from warehouses all over so generally 2-3 days to your door. Owner (an a Atwin rider) called to let me know one tire would arrive after the other because it had to come out of Chicago not the west coast and they couldn't do 2 shipping numbers on their website. So nice personal service.

Everyone else I was shopping 2 days ago was withing $5 or so in pricing. $147 for the rear and $120 for the front.

Good advice and in reality I probably could have went a lot more miles on those tires. I wish I would have measured the tread depth when they were new.

FYI at 16,120 miles still not at wear bars. Going to drop the wheels off next week and have them swapped. I got my money out of this set!!!!

I've had the new tires sitting in the garage and was going to swap them out after I got rear ended, but my tire guy checked the run out on the rim and said not to bother that it was still square round.

Hmmm sounds like a lot of Texas.....

But....our crappy tire eating pavement is probably to blame for half of the tire life on our bikes

Listen to tire noise next time youre driving in a nice quiet car

What is speed rating of E spec?
All the 501/502 battle wings are V rated (149 mph)

The different specs are for different OEM makers E is the S10, G is the 1200GS and there is a J for the Vstrom.

Not sure on the differences between the 3. Probably nothing significant. As they all list the same load/speed/etc etc etc numbers.

Since I've been riding my ST1300 to work daily and Tenere only around town for fun. Haven't changed out the tires yet, been measuring them to see when they hit the 2mm minimum.

16,725 miles. Front is at 2.17 mm Rear is at 2.76 mm (averaged out checking in a few spots)
Obviously squared off in the rear and some cupping up front.

That is the end of the tires. Tonight when I get home I'm taking them off to run to the shop.

These will be my go to tires from now on. Trying a set of the Dunlop Trailsmart as they were $130 a set just for one go as the price was unbelievable. But 99% sure Ill be back on the Battle Wings when the Dunlop needs replacing.

I had looked them up years ago as I ran the E variation on my Vstrom 1000. The E had the deepest tread depth. Nothing huge, just an extra 1 or 2 millimeters.

Well. . . . depending on who you talk to, or where you shop, the OE Battlewings may not be available. At one time, my dealer couldn't order them; which is why I'm running A41s. But then I see pictures of new Teneres wearing the Battlewings. So. . . . o_O

They are in stock and shipping from https://www.americanmototire.com/

I forget off the top of my head the set I got in March, but it was late a 2019 date code.

The BW are great tires IMO, I never expected to get 8K + miles from an OEM tire that has great grip (pavement) is quite and provides an nice ride. I'm on my 2nd set hope there still around when I need new ones.
