A 250 mile update for the new Mefo Super Explorer tires. 180 miles on pavement, rest on dry rutted clay tracks and crushed granite. Terryall area and Goose Creek for those on the Colorado front range.

Expected - more noise and rougher ride. Yes there is more noise at all speeds. Not objectionable, it's just there. And that is with ear plugs in. It is not as high pitched as the Mitas E07's. A bit lower tone. For the first few stop signs the coarseness of the tires was very apparent. At end of day it was not that noticeable. Very strong traction going forward from a standing stop. Even in a deep sandy section I stopped in to take a picture. Strong stopping grip front and rear. Stopped straight and secure from about 20-25 on the crushed granite.

Unexpected - Very confident inspiring on pavement. On the straights or in the twisties. Stable at speeds up to an indicated 90mph, dirt or pavement. There were no issues with rain grooves like on the Mitas E07's (the E07's did take about 500 miles to break in and stop the rain groove hunting). Todays asphalt was all dry pavement. I am not overly pleased with the way the front end seems to wash out and or slide so easily. Didn't have to put a foot down to stabilize, but it was on top of my brain. Especially on the crushed granite (like 1/4" pea gravel) which is prevalent around the Deckers canyon, Pikes Peak area. The front end seemed to move and hunt more on the dry rutted clay tracks too. It almost made me feel like a noob again. Maybe it will take another ride or 2 to get used to the way the front tire moves around on the dirt.

Update on these tires at Twisted Throttle.
The previous deal has been sweetened considerably for their July 4th sale, as these are now on for $85.32USD for the pair.

As has been pointed out, these are likely a few years old, but dang.....
I haven't even put the last pair on yet, but based on the decent reviews and how much I like my very similar Shinko 804/805s, I plan on getting another set.

I just ordered a set. I had no indication it was out of stock. However the receipt gave no estimated shipping or receiving date. For that price I am willing to take a chance. Lonslo

They look to be a "special order"? Get on the list to be emailed when back in stock.
Were you actually able to order them?
I did order a set yesterday, and the website today still shows "low stock - order soon" at the link for me. (right below the "add to cart")
I tried an incognito window to make sure it wasn't a browser cookie or something and it has the same "low stock" message, so not sure why it shows out of stock for you?
Maybe try it again or give them a call?

Just ordered a set too. I plan to start doing some driving on logging back roads in the Cape Breton highlands. So hopefully these will be suitable for that kind of riding.

Update #2 - I am very disappointed in how quickly these are wearing down. The way things are looking, I am going to lucky if they make it to 2500 miles. At 1700 miles, I have 4/32's left when they started at 14/32 for the rear. The front started at 10/32 and are now down to 7/32's. They do have great traction in loose off road and mud. They stick well on dry pavement and in the rain. I don't like how the front end wants to slide or push on the dirt. This is the first tire I have had to do that. I didn't have any issues with the Shinko 804/805 combo pushing in corners. The original stock tires were better at holding a line in the gravel. I am debating about going back to the Mitas EO7 + or the Dunlop Mission for the rear. I will be putting my 7000 mile Mitas EO7 (still looks good for another 10K) back on the front, regardless of how worn the front Mefo is by then.

Both of mine came today. Mfg. date is 2016. They look very good. Even if they dont last very long the price is so good I wont complain. Lonslo

Another update, yesterday I said to heck with, and had both tires replaced at about 1700 miles. I went with a new Dunlop Mission on the rear and reinstalled my 7k Mitas E07 front. The front should be good for another 8-9k from past experience with them. The thing about tires is that they wear out, so I get to try different ones. Some good, some not so good.

Looks like the tire deal is dead. Spoke to Twisted today about my missing tire. On backorder. The guy was actually very up front (kudos!) and said I'd probably never see that tire. Offered to pick up the front or credit the rear. I kept the front for $35. Didn't think I could go wrong at that. It'll go on this weekend since the Shinko 705 that's on there now is starting to cup. Still plenty of wear left, but I'm getting the slow speed wobble when coming to a stop.

My order still hasn't shipped as TT is waiting on another item that's on backorder.
Called today and they confirmed that only the front tire is available. Since I already have an unmounted set and based on the review from 14kmtnman, decided I didn't want just another front so cancelled the tire portion of the order.
Hope that those who receive theirs have a better performance/wear experience.
Been pretty happy with the 804/805 combo, so will be keeping my eyes open for any deals on those.

The options they gave me was to send both fronts back on their dime or spend another $90 or so for each alternate rear tire
I’ll be sending them back.
I ordered two sets……
